Sick and tired of being hungry, and would love to hear from anyone who has had this same struggle and eventually figured out what was going on / what to do about it. (Anonymous b/c of medical information given inside.)

Any suggestions for a good food bank or food pantry in the north or west San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles? We're going to see lots of grapefruit and avocado from our trees this year, and I'd like to donate it to needy folks. Google is not a big help.

I'm doing a nutrition and exercise coaching program through Precision Nutrition,
, which basically slowly introduces 10 basic habits and a schedule of workouts designed to help lose body fat and build muscle. One of the "habits" is to eat starchy carbohydrates only after exercise. When I do this, I am really low energy, moody, and anxious. Has anyone else experienced this reaction while doing low carb eating? What can I do to prevent it?

A few weeks ago while I was clicking around a bunch of size acceptance/health at every size blogs, I came across a comment from someone claiming that most if not all recovering/recovered anorexics require more food/calories than someone else of their relative same size who hadn't been anorexic (or maybe it was that they are
hungrier? I do not remember exactly). I can't find this comment again, and my Google searches for any kind of study or explanation have not been fruitful.

I started making smoothies recently with about 200g frozen fruit, 1.5 cups of 1% milk, and a scoop of whey protein powder. I wedge some kale in when I have it, but I happened to be out this week. This makes about as much smoothie as I can comfortably consume. Normally if I eat breakfast (lentils or eggs or oatmeal or cereal or toast and jam or whatever) around 7 or 7:30, I'm good until lunch at 12 or 1 or even later, but since I switched to smoothies, I'm finding that I'm ludicrously hungry by 10am. As in "I would cheerfully kill you for the last quarter of your sandwich" hungry. WTF? Why is this and how do I fix it?

Does "I'm so hungry I could eat a horse" mean "I'm so hungry I could eat at much meat as is on a horse's bones (without getting full)" or "I'm so hungry I'd be willing to eat something as (presumably) unappetizing as horse meat"?

Why do I get the dry heaves when I get hungry? I used to never had a problem getting hungry...if I couldn't eat for a little while. In the last couple of years I have an almost instantaneous reaction when I get hungry. All of a sudden I go into the dry heaves. I have to desperately search for something to eat or eat a Tums. It's rather annoying, not to mention uncomfortable. Other than that I don't have any symptoms. Does anyone have experience with this. Ideas?

In relation to
this fpp about food and mental health, I have recently been getting drastic bouts of hunger, confusion and depression when I eat late (even an hour later than usual), or don't eat enough at a meal. These bouts last about 3 hours, and once they start even stuffing myself won't help. Has anyone had this, know what it could be, or know how I could try to solve it?

I'm pretty much always hungry at night. I work at home, mostly at night. What's the least bad, most filling thing I can eat? I'm not fat, just a little squishy. Trying to focus on eating fruit but it doesn't always work out that way.
