Is there a name for this style of joking? Set-up: Person A asks a question. Punchline: Person B -- by pretending to misunderstand the question -- gives an unexpected response. The Marx Bros used this style a lot, and I see it over and over on "Flight of the Conchords. " ALSO: Can anyone offer further examples of this? Thank you so much! :-)

I love esoteric jokes, the kind of humor which presupposes a lot of specialized knowledge. The more opaque the joke is, the better. However, by their very nature they're kinda hard to search for on Google, or at least I rarely hit upon the magic searchterms. So, do you know good sites with specialist jokes? If not, do you know any particularly obscure jokes? [more inside]

My wife is working very difficult and stressful night shifts for the next few weeks. To help her keep from becoming emotionally overwhelmed, I like to send her jokes to her text pager. It's quickly become hard to find quality jokes that are short enough, though. Little help? [more inside]

I'm looking to keep in tune with the funny side of life and even improve my sense of humour.
Basically I find if I regularly read jokes I seem to enjoy life more and even start making ones up myself.
I like using rss to keep up with my favourite sites and I really love the idea of a website where people submit new jokes everyday and they are put into a feed which I can easily access.
Does anything like this exist?

A couple of weeks ago, I asked a question about "The European" newspaper, published from 1990-1999. Actually, the reason why I asked is because, in the name of fostering European understanding, they had asked readers for jokes which didn't target a specific nationality. Seems that such jokes are rare, because what they tended to get were jokes that made fun of absolutely EVERYBODY (along the lines of the famous "Heaven and Hell in Europe", for example). I've been trying to find these. Any suggestions where I might be able to find this old content of "The European" newspaper, or else any other good suggestions for similar jokes? A good one that I've been trying to remember how it all goes involves a sinking ship filled with international passengers, but which doesn't have enough lifeboats... [more inside]

Jokes and humor websites : Can you recommend some good ones? I mean belly-laugh good. What rises to the surface from a few google trawls I wouldn't inflict on anyone.

I used to be funny, and now I'm not. Not rip-roaringly, get-your-own-sitcom funny, but enough to get my girlfriend and friends to regularly smile and chuckle. How do I get funny again?

What's the best joke/ one-liner you've heard in a speech at a wedding? I'm getting married this year and it's getting to be speech-writing time; the books and websites I've found on this so far have all been quite corny. Does anyone have any gems out there?
