I have an interview for a Dialer Admin II position at a huge collections outfit in four hours. Although I have about 10 years of collections call center experience and have worked extensively ON a dialer, I've never actually done any Dialer Admin-type work. What can I say or do to help me get this job? [more inside]

HR/YANML filter: One of my assistants had an on-the-job injury today, and at the hosptial, they failed to give her the pee test drug screening that our company requires. She's concerned that they may use that as basis for claiming that she refused the test, and therefore will be on her own for the expense. I don't feel like this is the case, but I wanted someone with a more informed answer to help me reassure her. So, do they have the burden of proof if they claim she refused? How long after the event can they require it?

I was turned down for a job. The reason given was that they couldn't match the salary range that I could get from other jobs. Is this a common "polite lie" among employers or is this the actual reason for me not getting hired? [more inside]

I wish to move to a new position within my company (in a different dept) but my boss won't sign my internal job application because he says he needs to find a replacement first. Whilst this sounds reasonable, I believe this to be an excuse which he can and will use indefinitely, and that he has no intention of attempting to replace me but wishes to delay my ability to get the new position long enough for it to become no longer available. Tomorrow I'm meeting with our HR rep to discuss this, and I don't think it's going to go in my favor because we're already losing several people and I'm sure they want to plug the hole. What other options of recourse do I have if the HR guy is unable to help me out? [more inside]

Just applied last week for a job I'd really like that I believe I'm well-qualified for. It is in Phoenix AZ (with America West Airlines, if that info helps) and I am in Orem UT. What kind of follow up can I do to make sure that HR and whoever is really making hiring decisions at least notices me and knows I'm genuinely interested, without being annoying?
