My new HP laptop has a web cam but no useful software for it. So how can I actually use this thing? [more inside]

Scanning pics on an HP Laserjet 3030 multifunction unit into Paint Shop Pro (or any other app) via TWAIN. The HP Scan dialog closes after every scan and it takes a while to reopen on this older PC. Is there any way to make it stay open for multiple scans?
