I suck at sewing. I'd like to be able to mend my own clothes, but this isn't enough of an issue for me to buy / support a sewing machine. How can I get better?

Mold -- Is it possible to eliminate mold as part of a home rehab project without hiring an all-out mold professional? Will it be sufficient to remove all the drywall, scrub and bleach the wood behind (or replace anything damaged), and stop the sources of water intrusion? Did you deal with mold as part of a major fixer-upper?

I am clueless in the laundry room. I know nothing about stain removal and very little about sorting, what settings to use on my washer, what needs to air-dry, how to prevent things from shrinking, etc. Teach me how to do laundry like a grownup!

Lazy Last Minute Dinner Help: So I forgot it was my turn to cook dinner and all I have in the house are some scraps of cooked meat (chicken, lamb) and a bottle of Loyd Grossman's pre-made Korma sauce. How can I jazz this up while using up the scraps in my cupboard? Preferably stuff I can add while it simmers?

I recently moved to Phoenix and am lucky enough to have a swimming pool in my backyard. It's perfect for water aerobics but not so much for swimming, as one end of the pool is much shallower than the other. I'm looking for good instructional water aerobics videos. Any suggestions? I haven't found much on the web so I'm ok with buying something if it's highly recommended.

What kind of clothing should I wear to de-emphasize my wide shoulders and muscular arms?
I am a 25-year old female, and I have a very muscular upper body. I don't lift weights or anything, but my shoulders and arms have just always been defined. People in the street ask me if I am a professional swimmer. I am becoming very self-conscious of my shoulders and arms, and wondering what kind of tops would work for me. I already know that spaghetti straps are a no-no.
Also, no matter where I buy tops, they are ALL too short, because I also have a long torso. So, I am constantly flashing my stomach, there is always that thin strip of skin visible between my top and my pants. Please help!

You've moved to a town very remote from any of your established social circles: you have no best nor casual friends nor any romantic relationships. You go into one or more meetings of utter strangers with whom you know you share some common interest (OneBrick, a Mefi meetup, a Meetup.Com thing, or something else entirely). What do you do — specifically, pretend I've got Asperger's here (no offense to those who do) — to take things from the level of "just an amiable conversation" to an actual friendship?

A series of interrelated mental and physical illnesses turned my life (and the time I spent in law school) into what can best be described as an out-of-body experience. Four years later, I'm beginning to come out of it--I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, and it's not an oncoming train. It's pretty obvious (to me, if not to a few people who believe in me and/or my talents) that finding a position at a firm is out of the question. Which leaves another question: am I out of my mind to think that I can, via the magic of another graduate degree, reposition myself and get the career I'd hoped for before the psychological bottom fell out?
