story-oriented video editing resources

I'm looking for some really good how-to guides on making videos, especially on documentary style and story-oriented pieces. [more inside]

And I'm like, how'd you do that? (ooh hoo hoo!)

How can I make a video like this one for Cee-lo Green's Fuck You? What kind of program(s) would I need? Are there any tutorials? Any terms for what this is called would be helpful too, because my googling has been rather unsuccessful. Thanks!

Water Aerobics Instructional Videos?

I recently moved to Phoenix and am lucky enough to have a swimming pool in my backyard. It's perfect for water aerobics but not so much for swimming, as one end of the pool is much shallower than the other. I'm looking for good instructional water aerobics videos. Any suggestions? I haven't found much on the web so I'm ok with buying something if it's highly recommended.

Looking for simple video format conversion

Why is it so damn complicated to convert between video formats? This afternoon I went on vcdhelp.com to find out how to convert AVI to SVCD and the simplest tutorial involved six different tools and unbelievably many settings. How come nobody has written something to do it in one step? Can it really not be automated?

Making a gameplay video

I've got to take some short sequences of gameplay off of the outputs of a gamecube, an old nintendo, and a SuperNES, and produce a CD with the video on it. Since all of the machines have RCA out, it seems pretty straight forward, right? What equipment will I need, and are there any pitfalls I should be aware of?

How do I get a hypothetical product in front of an actual audience of pro and amateur video editors?

If I wanted to get a hypothetical product, created by a hypothetical design studio, in front of a non-hypothetical audience of professional and amateur video editors, how would you suggest I reach them? I have found a short-list of forums and how-to sites but feel I must be missing some other resources and/or online communities. Thnx.
