I'm trying to rebuild a mix tape made for me by a London friend around 1989-1990. One track I'm having trouble finding started out with "Are you sitting comfortably? [Good.] Then I'll begin," which is a sample from the BBC's "Listen with Mother
" radio series (click on the second old time radio for a clip, starts at the :16sec mark). After that it had a very deep man's voice saying "Welcome," over and over again while the music ramped up behind it. I always thought the man sounded like Worf
, from ST: TNG. Any leads?

We're considering a move to the Cleveland area, and one of the deciding factors for me is going to be the quality of the local dance music scene. But that leads me to ask: what's the deal with the local dance music scene? Does one exist? I've found a couple of online forums but they seem to be moribund.
So what's up, Cleveland? Anyone dancing in converted warehouses until the sun comes up? Are there gigs to be found for dance DJs here?

HouseMusicFilter: I'm looking for the name of a house song/sample from the early 90's in which there are no words (to my memory) and where the beat goes "BOOM BOOM beep beep beep" for pretty much the entirety of the song. If the song is in 4/4, then the "BOOMs" are on the 1 & 2 beats, and the three "beeps" are a triplet across the 3 & 4 beats. [more inside]

Who's producing the best deep/latin/jazzy/disco house music these days? I no longer have the time to go to clubs or crate-digging so I've lost touch with the community. Please tell me who you love, who's making the music that makes you move, and who's on your "most played" list!
Live streams are are great, but I'm really looking for stuff I can download/buy. [more inside]

I'm interested in learning more about the origins of all-night dance clubs and parties, the type of which are now standard practice in most underground nightclubs in Europe and in some bigger cities in North America. Can any one particular scene (dance music or otherwise) be credited for developing the idea of dancing through the night and into the next morning? [more inside]

DJs - where online do you buy your vinyl? I've had great experiences buying from Juno in the UK, but I'm looking for alternatives. Google turns up a bunch of stuff but if you have any personal recommendations or experience buying from other sites (especially North American ones) please share. I spin mostly club/deep/progressive house.
