I have a cursory understanding of EDM, but I'm obsessed with Disclosure... yet I've played their album to death. Please help me find something new to listen to. [more inside]

I'm trying to rebuild a mix tape made for me by a London friend around 1989-1990. One track I'm having trouble finding started out with "Are you sitting comfortably? [Good.] Then I'll begin," which is a sample from the BBC's "Listen with Mother
" radio series (click on the second old time radio for a clip, starts at the :16sec mark). After that it had a very deep man's voice saying "Welcome," over and over again while the music ramped up behind it. I always thought the man sounded like Worf
, from ST: TNG. Any leads?

It's that track that comes in at about 4:47 in this video
(the track before Ride on Time). Shazam has no answer — it's obviously something not on Beatport. Someone somewhere *has* to know it!
Thanks, hive mind!

Should I buy an "all in one" DJ controller or should I buy component-by-component (i.e., two turntables, a mixer and a serato box)? Details follow... [more inside]

We like a range of music: house, soul, funk, techno, some of the recent top40, nuwaveglitchhopstep, daytime disco(?). Emphasis on the beat and getting down. The other patrons, similarly, should have a pro-dancing agenda and friendly vibe. [more inside]

What was that music webapp I had on my iPod? Help me remember the site I had saved to my homescreen a while ago. I'm fairly sure it was a webapp and not a proper app. I seem to remember the name for the icon was shortened to a two-letter acronym; I thought it was DI for digitalinspiration.com but googling that shows I was wrong. I'll try to describe it anyway: the app had a series of square, colourful icons down the left-hand side, not unlike the style to the iTunes gift card drawings. Each icon represented a category; I definately remember 'lounge', and the others were mostly dance/electronic music related genres like house, groove etc. probably hip-hop stuff too. Definately a cool and groovy site.

What is it called when a techno/similar artist mixes a song with chunks or samples of rock songs? What are some artists or songs that do this? [more inside]

Let's pretend it's 1989 and I'm putting together a playlist of classic NYC Limelight-style club anthems. I want piano drops, I want (not-too-cheezy) diva vocals, I want sweet (read: UNmonotonous) House Music. [more inside]

We're having an open house and other various viewings of our place and I was wondering what would be good 'open house' music to play?
Preferably from iTunes Radio but other suggestions welcome

Fox's House MD features a theme tune by Massive Attack in the US, but in Europe it has a different theme called "House" due to licensing problems.
What other programs have had to do this, and what does a "licensing problem" mean, exactly?
