Has anyone working fulltime under a manager negotiated a cut in their work hours, from the standard 40-hr work week to 30-32 hours? (But not due to childcare or other specific family/personal constraints, just for wanting more free time.)

I'm starting an unpaid internship (software/engineering-related) and I've been asked to pick my own hours. I get the impression that I'm expected to work less than full time. Can I say I'll work less than full time just because I feel like it?

I just started a second job, bringing me to 70+ hours a week. This will last until the end of September, when the first job ends. I also commute an hour each way between the jobs.
I know, it's nuts. I made a committment to the first (
cheesy) job. The second job
pays more and has a
future. And hell, I need the money.
You who have worked two full-time jobs simultaneously:
How did you do it?
What helped?
What should I
watch out for?
Any suggestions for me?
