Looking for a lakeside B&B (or cottage or hotel) with lake view room in WI, IN or MI. Should be within two hours from Chicago roughly. This would be for early January. Any recommendations or cautions? Ideal prices would be in the $125 or under a night range.

I'm in the greater Toledo area and I'm looking for a romantic weekend getaway location in the surrounding area for thanksgiving weekend. I'm fairly new to the area and don't know the nice places to go and stay. Its an anniversary, so I want somewhere kind of romantic, like maybe a resort hotel or something. But it needs to be somewhere that won't just be cold and dead in late November. [more inside]

We're two recent grad-school graduates on a budget, travelling to Portland and Seattle in a couple of weeks. Any recommendations for relatively inexpensive hotels in both cities? (Previous Seattle questions have brought up the Moore Hotel, but in case they're booked, any alternative suggestions?) Thanks!

Does anyone know any nice places to stay in Cornwall, England? Preferable B&Bs, but hotels OK. Up to £100 per double room per night is probably the limit, but we're getting desperate, so..

Is this a legit hotel booking site? Does anyone have any experience with hotelsireland.com
, good or bad? I found a too good to be true rate for a hotel in Ireland (Trim Castle Hotel) that's about half the normal rate, but want to know I'm not going to be scammed when I give them money. Googling around isn't yielding anything in the way of reviews for this site. Thanks!

here on the green, I have sorted out my transportation logistics for getting to the World Cup. Before and after the Paraguay vs. Trinidad game, I will be visiting Paris, Florence, and Madrid for a few days each. Where should we stay? I don't mind paying $200-$300 a night. Just looking for some nice hotels in good locations for people who don't speak the local languages.

I want to travel to Sanibel or Captiva Islands - I am looking for accommodation, but I find it very hard to make a decision based exclusively on online research. I would welcome any advice on where to stay.
I am not very fond of big chain hotels like Holiday Inn's etc.... I much prefer small motels or self-catered cabins, but I am afraid to book a shabby place because online everything looks pristine..... so, ideally I would love to find a small motel or cabin by the sea, in a quiet part of town. Another thing to consider is that I am traveling with my parents and our baby, therefore I am looking for places that have a apt-like layout, with ideally the choice of one or two bedrooms and a kitchenette.
Any advice on this and other must-see, must-eat, must-do attractions would be greatly appreciated.

In a few weeks I am going to be driving a moving truck cross country with 2 cats. I will need to find a hotel 2 different nights along the way. However, given the unpredictable nature of that kind of drive in a moving van, I am loathe to reserve places ahead of time. If there is any sort of delay or fortunate expedience the reservation could easily be missed.
Searching the internet it seems that the pet policy is left up to individual hotels - even in the same chain. Does anyone know of any chains that allow small pets at all of their hotels or at least a resource that might compile a list of such places?

I'm going to Atlantic City in October, and the prices to stay on the boardwalk are prohibitive, so I want to stay just outside the city. Anyone know the area well enough to make suggestions? For example, right now I'm looking at hotels in West Atlantic City -- is that a nice area, or would slightly-fearful me not be comfortable there?
