Simple question: Where do we need to eat and sleep in Madrid and Barcelona?
We are planning a summer trip to Spain (4 nights in Madrid, 2 nights in Barcelona, 1 night in Girona).
The Girona portion of the trip is set -- dinner at
El Celler de Can Roca for an extravagant birthday experience.
What we need are suggestions for restaurants and hotels in Madrid and Barcelona.
(We're also planning day trips to Segovia and Toledo, so you could include lunch spots in those places if you'd like.)
A few notes: we are fairly sophisticated dinners, but we also love simple, straightforward food-of-the-people. Our hotel tastes run toward contemporary/modern, but we're not opposed to something classic -- we just want to avoid international chains.
Thanks for any/all suggestions!

This question but for NYC midtown. Coming up on an anniversary and need to escape our apartment and find a room with a hot tub! Preferably without selling a kidney. Super bonus points if you can also recommend a place to buy super-soft women's PJs in NYC.

Mrs. COD and myself are headed to VA Beach this weekend, and my efforts to secure a nice hotel cheap via Hotwire / Priceline have not panned out. We are visiting with friends on Chick's beach, so staying somewhere around the Norfolk Airport keeps us within 15 minutes of their place, which is fine. Has anybody stayed at a Norfolk Airport hotel recently? The reviews on the travel sites are kind of scary, but I'm hoping it's just Internet trolling and it's not really that bad. Cheap is good - we just need a place to crash Saturday night. Any recommendations from recent personal experience?

I am going to New York for 4-5 days towards the end of October and need cheap accommodations. A shared bathroom is no biggie but I am too old for anything that veers towards the hostel side of things. It needs to be in Manhattan. I am male by the way if that makes a difference. Thank you for any suggestions.

I am helping to plan a trip to San Francisco in September for a doctor from Kenya, for a conference. All the cheaper hotel rooms bought in a block by the conference organizers are taken. Where can he stay relatively cheaply that's not too far from (or too complicated to travel to) the Moscone Center?

Does anyone know the name of the white Russian bread that was served in Intourist Hotels and available at bread stores in Russian in the 80's and 90's? It was a heavy white bread made with scalded milk. It was square in shape, and had a unique crumb.
Bonus if you have a recipe. I love Black Bread and the Borodinsky bread, but it's easy to find recipes for these.

Help me pack in a nice 3 day weekend in DFW with my wife. I've got Rangers tickets for Sunday's game 5/29. I think I want to stay at a Hilton with a nice pool situation. (I've got a boatload of points, so can likely stay at deep discount) I want to do a 5 mile run somewhere scenic on Saturday and maybe Monday morning. Other than that, I love to eat, drink, and spend money.

Looking for hotels in Austin. My wife and I are coming to Austin on a scouting trip with my parents. All research is telling us Austin would be a great place to raise our kids. Kids won't be with us. We are coming on March 9th - 13th. We realize SWSX starts on the 11th. I am not concerned about staying near all the action. I actually wouldn't mind staying out in the hill country or any location where we can hop in our rental car and get a good feel for the metro area. We don't mind paying $150 - $200 a night. Where can we stay that will be a good launching point for checking out all that the Austin metro has to offer?

I am at JFK waiting to fly to Bermuda. Most likely, my flight is going to be cancelled due to weather in Bermuda. In the event my flight does get cancelled, what is the best thing to do regarding finding a room for the night that isn't going to be dodgy? I have had a look at rates in Manhattan and even something as simple as the Courtyard Marriott on 3rd is going for $450 a night. Should I stay near the airport? If so, where? Do I have any leverage on such short notice? Can I just call the hotel, and say 'Hey, I need a room, if its not you, its gonna be someone else. What's the best rate you can give me?' Help me find a decent place to stay and not pay an arm and a leg in NYC.

I need a hotel or a resort, a very special resort. Within a 5 hour drive of Seattle (but not on the ocean itself -- we're going there later in the summer), a big comfortable lobby/lounge to play games, read, talk. Something nice outside, but really, in the Pacific Northwest, that's pretty much a given. Old and funky is fine, new and posh also fine. I'm looking for something memorable.
