Where to stay for two nights in Seattle?

My husband and I want to spent this Friday and Saturday night in a nice-ish hotel in Seattle, but we aren't sure what neighborhoods we should even be looking in. I don't know the city very well, so I could use some guidance! [more inside]

Vancouver or Bust!

Trying to plan a last minute trip to Vancouver and need some hotel recommendations. Also, it's looking like it's significantly cheaper to fly into to Seattle. Would that make sense to fly into Seattle and then make my way to Vancouver via rental car, bus or train, OR would it be smarter to just pay the extra cost and just fly straight into Vancouver. Inexpensive (and unscary) hotels: Seattle/Portland

We're two recent grad-school graduates on a budget, travelling to Portland and Seattle in a couple of weeks. Any recommendations for relatively inexpensive hotels in both cities? (Previous Seattle questions have brought up the Moore Hotel, but in case they're booked, any alternative suggestions?) Thanks!
