I'm planning a trip to DC in June and wondering what areas are safe & not so safe? Also hotels are very expensive so can anyone suggest a hotel (staying a week) in or around DC that is convenient to the Metro and again a safe area and not so expensive as to dry out your bank account? Any tips about DC in general?

Any recommendations for inexpensive hotels near Georgetown Law School? Will be there for commencement weekend, May 15-17. Using sites like hotels.com and orbitz it seems like all the cheap hotels are already filled (only found rooms for ~300/night) and I don't know anything about DC.

If you were going to Washington, DC for a week and were the kind of person who likes to do the museum thing by day and go out to eat/drink/merry at night, where would you stay?
I'm headed down there Mon-Thur next week and have no clue

I am looking for nice hotels in the DC metro area. My wife and I need a nice holiday, so I'd like something with some real charm to it, not some chain with the cheap sheets and horrible quilted comforters. Any recommendations? [more inside]

My partner is going to DC for the March for Choice next month. She'd like to stay an extra day, but the hotel wants to charge too much, and she's having trouble finding B&Bs and/or affordable hotels. Any suggestions? [more inside]
