Do I have a legal right to cancel a contract with a UK company that has gone into administration and been bought-out?
What's the legality in the UK surrounding contracts signed with a company that goes into administration and is bought-out by a different company and re-branded? Is the contract still valid? Can you get out of the contract without penalty because you signed it with a now non-existant company? [more inside]
I need a hotel for 2 nights in San Francisco (10/31 & 11/1) next week. I'd like to be in the Fisherman's Wharf or Marina area, but Chinatown/Union Square area is OK if I can't find a hotel in the FW/M area. Ideally I'd like a room for $100 or less. I've checked the main travel sites, but the lists are overwhelming. It'll be 3 ladies, so cleaner, newer is best. I don't mind independent, older hotels as long as they're clean. Any suggestions or recommendations?

I'm staying at a hotel in Taipei. After the last time my room was cleaned (that is, earlier today), I noticed that a partially-consumed water bottle I'd left in my room had had a cotton ball taped to it. Any idea what the significance of this might be?
My SO is going to a conference in Chicago next week; unfortunately the convention-rate block at the conference hotel is full for the first night, and she's not terribly mobile right now (on crutches). She's looking for recommendations for a hotel from which it's easy to get to the Hyatt Regency. [more inside]
We are staying at an off-strip suites hotel in Las Vegas. Found bed bugs after our first night, and after an initially good response, we're concerned we're going to get the run-around from the hotel. Additional complications with pregnancy and chemicals mean that we need to be sure we're bug free without poisoning our little one, but I don't think the hotel has the same priorities... Dad, brother-in-law, and I are going to the Cincinnati Reds game on August 27. We want to get a hotel close to the ballpark, and since Dad's got some knee issues, we're wanting to find a hotel with shuttle service. Any recommendations? We'd just like to be able to call the hotel and get back and forth without hailing a cab, or without having to drive in the mess getting out from the ballpark. Thanks!

I run a medium sized (70 room) hotel with my family. The cost of our utilities is a continuing concern for the hotel. Guests routinely check-out of their rooms and leave all of the lights on, heater/air-conditioning on, television and radio playing. There are also incidents where the tap water is left running. We realize that there is a mentality that once the cost of the room has been determined, the guest assumes that they may "use" as much of the room/utility as they can. My question: is there a way for the hotel to place a small sign by the light-switch or the door that advises guests to help us conserve energy without being perceived as rude or cheap? Additionally, how would the wording on the sign read? [more inside]
