I'll be traveling around the states with my family in August and I'm looking for a good hotel in California, somewhere around LA and San Francisco. It has to be close to, or more preferably own a good beach. I was looking at some resorts in Santa Barbara, but maybe there are some other nice places to stay in.

My friend and I want to take a weekend trip to Colorado to escape the heat (not our husbands--no seriously) and have a fun, relaxing girls' weekend. We think the mountains of Colorado might be nice, but neither of us has ever been there so we have no clue where to start. Any suggestions as to which town might be best? Great hotel recommendations? Help!

Is it common practice for a small boutique hotel (a dozen rooms + a couple of penthouses) to charge you a HIGHER rate for booking all of their rooms? Their argument is that we're making it hard for them to ensure that all rooms are booked to maximum capacity for the nights immediately before and after the block of nights that I want to book.

I'm going to be staying in Berlin for nearly two weeks in the summer. I need to pay hostel-style prices (10-40 euro/night), and would like to stay at a great location in a space that attracts and makes it easy to chat with interesting people (writers, artists, or just an eclectic crowd...). Don't want a heavy party atmosphere. Any hostel recommendations? And are there non-hostel accommodations I should consider?

Toronto hotels filter: I'm coming to Toronto at the end of the month for a week and need to find a (very?) nice hotel no more than two blocks away from Bloor Street (at about Yonge or so - I think the area is called Yorkville but I'm not sure) at a reasonable price. We're two adults, one shopping and one working, and one baby and the prices we've found so far are quite insane ($500+ per night). Thanks!

I'm going to Denver for a conference, Ap 30-May 4. I'm looking for an affordable hotel (less than $150/night), and it would be great if it were near cafes and public transportation. Know of any? And, if you have a favorite cafe, I'd love to know. All suggestions are appreciated.

I want to stay at a hotel in my own town. Where in Los Angeles is the best place to do this? As befits an impulse, I want to find someplace near me (within a half-hour's driving time of downtown) which has an opening today, at a reasonable price, which I figure is about 200 bucks a night.

A friend of mine will soon be staying at the Sheraton Wall Centre in vancouver for an extended period and is hoping to hook up his MacBook to the TV in the room. He has all the appropriate cords, but I have heard from someone that at the Sheraton, they "lock" the buttons to change over to VGA input.
Is this something that can be worked around? Is the feature intrinsic to the TV or would a universal remote help?
