Wedding Night Hotel NYC. I'm looking for a hotel room for our wedding night in October. [more inside]
I'm looking for a cheap place to crash off Rt. 95 near (or slightly North of) Portland, ME this Friday night. I will be arriving late-ish and leaving early the next morning, so hotel amenities are a non-issue. Most of the places I'm finding, your Days Inns and Travel lodges, are $150 or so minimum. I'd prefer to do better. [more inside]
I am going into more detail than might be necessary to head off questions... Last night I stayed in a nice upper-quality chain hotel that no business person or middle class leisure traveler would ever think twice about booking (think luxury lobby, lots of services, in a downtown urban area, not a highway discount chain.) I dropped into bed exhausted and didn't check the sheets first. When I woke up, I discovered large amounts of dried but still fairly recent looking blood in the sheets. (Definitely not old stained/washed, rather flaking, newish rust color, etc.) [more inside]
I left a ring with sentimental value in my hotel room in the bathroom this afternoon, checked out of the hotel and didn't remember until now. I've called the hotel lost and found and they said the room was cleaned, nothing was reported found and that they will have housekeeping check tomorrow, the room is occupied already. Is there anything else that I can do about this? [more inside]
We'll be in Tokyo between December 27-January 2 at the tail end of our honeymoon, right in the middle of the New Year holidays. Help us add a ryokan stay and onsen relaxation to our itinerary! [more inside]

I'm headed to San Francisco for a week at the end of the month. Work will reimburse up to $190 per night for a hotel. I really want to stay downtown for easier access to restaurants, bars and nightlife. I'm fine with driving to and from the worksite. Which hotel(s) would you recommend?
I have a zillion AmEx rewards points on a card I use for work, and my wife and I would like to use them to stay in a resort/hotel in Hawaii this summer (Kona/Waikoloa area), also booking a (possibly adjoining, but that's not a big deal) room for my mother to join us. I've never done that before (the points part - I totally know how to go on vacation), and I'm looking for advice on getting it right. [more inside]
I'll be in Las Vegas for a conference this summer, and am trying to figure out what my best options are for lodging. I'll have a fair bit of time for fun stuff, and I can't decide whether it's wiser to stay right next to the Convention Center and cab it to the strip/Fremont, or whether it makes more sense to stay on the strip and cab it to the conference (I'm also open to walking, depending on weather/exhaustion levels). I'm also not sure which way would be most beneficial traffic-wise, going into or out of the strip. If you've done this before, which option would you recommend, and are there any particular hotels I should look into?
Looking for recommendations for a hotel or B&B in the Barcelona area. We are driving and arriving late May. Need a place with parking ideally north of the city but easy walking distance to the metro. €150 or less. TIA!
Have you or someone you know ever worked in a hotel? Or are you a firefighter? If so, I am studying fire safety and would like to know what (if anything) hotel employees are trained to do in the event of a fire? [more inside]
Just found a bedbug in my hotel room. What's next? [more inside]
We're going on our honeymoon and staying at JW Marriott and a Ritz Carlton in Oahu and Tokyo, respectively. Since it's our honeymoon, I'm wondering what sorts of 'gratis' services can we attempt to ask for before we arrive? These are things like having them call for hard-to-get restaurants to welcome gifts, to notes thanking us for coming. Wrinkle-- I'm using points (i.e. these are free) but have top Marriott Status (which doesn't get me anywhere at Ritz, I know). 1. Does anyone have any experience in this regard? 2. I booked online, how can I request/let them know regarding this? E-mail? Call? Who? 3.Bonus question: does anyone have any suggested Tokyo spots we can/should ask for help getting in?
Without fail, every hotel I've been to in the past few years with an HDTV has most of their channels in the wrong aspect ratio and with many channels having poor reception. Worse, even the pay per view, new release Hollywood films are often shown in the wrong aspect. I can't be the first person to complain, and this seems so widespread to be a bigger problem, so I must ask, WHY!? WHY!? WHY!?
We will be travelling soon using different hotels I'm not familiar with. Now I do my spot checking for bed bugs. I'm more concerned with clothing. When travelling I hang up as much as I can in the closet and then try to leave everything else in the suitcase. But it's really difficult and I would like to have this stored in bags. What bags do you recommend are best to buy that we can keep everything else in but that they will stay well sealed. Can we leave these bags in hotel drawers? Is a luggage liner suggested? what else should we get? I'm so unclear with the reviews on the internet. I want to do my due diligence and try to be reasonable. Thanks.
Mrs. and I are able to get away from the kiddos and wretched cold of Minnesota for a long weekend in Vegas the last weekend of February, first time for both of us. Please help us enjoy our rare getaway! [more inside]
I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions for where to stay in El Paso. My colleague and I will be there for work and would like to stay somewhere where we can walk out of the hotel and find some good options. [more inside]
I'll be attending an event at the University of Chicago, and need to find a place to stay nearby. The block of hotel rooms reserved for attendees is still more expensive than I'd like, especially x2 nights. Is there anything like a guesthouse or more dormitory-type accommodations available near campus? (Is this a total pipe dream?) [more inside]

My girlfriend and I both have some time off between Christmas and New Years Day. We'd like to take a one-day roadtrip somewhere along the southern California coast, get a hotel, hang out on the beach a while, sleep, come home the next afternoon. We're located in Santa Monica, and on a pretty tight budget. Ideas for great little spots/hotels? [more inside]
My soon-to-be-wife and I will be in San Juan, PR, this weekend, staying at El Convento. The photos on the web site seem to indicate it's not very laid-back in terms of dress, but hotel reviews I've read haven't mentioned anything about how dressy or casual the place is. Can anyone provide some firsthand knowledge? Bonus restaurant recommendations are welcome, too.
I will have to spend between one and two months on bed rest, not in my own home but in a hotel. How do I not go crazy? [more inside]
We want to go somewhere sunny this winter. There are a bewildering number of travel websites hocking flight+hotel deals. Did you have a good experience with any of them? [more inside]
In Paris, we are looking for a recommendation for a 6 day apartment rental by owner or a hotel in the 6th arrondissement. We would like to pay a maximum of $200 Canadian per night. Though we are looking at the 6th, If you have a place to recommend in the 5th arrondissement, we would also be interested. if you can add a few details about the place, that would be appreciated.
I have a few days off following the holiday crazies and I'm planning a mini road-trip to escape for these few days to unwind, hide from life and work on some personal projects. I really don't care where I go, but I'm looking for 4 things: an awesome private jacuzzi tub, a solid internet connection, and a walkable location -- all within 6 hours drive of Vancouver. [more inside]
I'm a first-time traveler to India and am looking for recommendations for a clean hotel with western fixtures in the Pahar Ganj neighbourhood in New Delhi. I don't want to spend *too* much (30ish CAD/night) but would like some western amenities for my first few days in the country. The hotel would be for this weekend. Any experiences/ideas?
I'm going to Sydney for a weekend and I'm looking for your recommendations of reasonably cheap accommodation - either cheapish hotels or hostels. I'm not looking for anywhere with a party vibe, but I'm open to suggestions apart from that. Ta!
I'd like to get some hotel recommendations around Ann Arbor, MI, please! [more inside]

I'm looking for a medium-priced, safe hotel in New York City that's within safe walking distance (maybe 1 mile?) of The Strand Bookstore. Bonus points if the hotel is near anything else of literary interest. I've only been to NYC once and that was ten years ago so I'm very sketchy on neighborhoods/geography of the city, so I don't even know if this is a realistic request. Any thoughts, NYC booklovers?
Going to a conference Sept 12-13, to be held at the Orchard Hotel Singapore (442 Orchard Road). At around 210 Singapore dollars + taxes, I can afford it, but would also be happier with somewhere a bit less expensive. If you know of somewhere within walking distance, that isn't too noisy, and is a bit cheaper, could you tell me?
There is a hotel being built in downtown LA, across the street from the JW Mariott. At the corner of Fransico Str. and W Olympic Blvd. What is the name of the hotel? [more inside]
Looking for Parisian hotels in Monmartre or in central Paris with US-quality wifi or Internet access during the Christmas season. No wifi tokens or credits or anything like that, looking for flat fee wifi within guest rooms for at least one device. That the hotel be nice to stay at is a plus.
I am planning an anniversary trip to NYC for the third weekend in October - we would like someplace fun and reasonable to stay (an actual hotel, so AirBnB is out). We plan on doing some touristy things (a Broadway show, some of the big museums), but we would like to spend the rest of the time in a part of the city that's entertaining and quirky and a bit off the beaten path. Any recommendations of where to stay, and things to do once we're there, would be welcome. [more inside]
My mother recently passed away and we are looking to rent out a function space to have a gathering for 25-30 friends and relatives to get together, have a little lunch, trade stories, and generally remember her. Low-key is the general idea. Looking for recommendation for locations (hotels, inns, converted barns, restaurants) around North Orange County, California — or web resources that will have good listing of the same. [more inside]
I need a hotel room in Singapore but most are really expensive. [more inside]
I might get a job offer for a concierge position in a high end hotel. What is that like? [more inside]
We're going to do a couple days in Los Angeles for a mini honeymoon next Thur/Fri nights. Want to see the Getty Museum, Olvera Street and maybe some Hollywood. Looking for someplace cool and unusual to stay - we like retro, art deco, mid century, kitschy, cheesy stuff. Clean, basic, bedbug free, a fridge in the room would be nice. Suggestions? Thank you!
I'm going to be in the Boston area on the 29th and 30th of this month, and I'm looking for a bed-and-breakfast type place to stay over that weekend. Small and cheap is preferred, and outside the city - I've been thinking south, near (probably not actually on) the Cape. Does anyone have suggestions, either of particular places or of general areas I should aim for?
Looking for a hotel in the Washington DC area. There are, of course, a lot of special snowflake requirements. [more inside]
So, I'm running a bit late in making my hotel reservation for E3 and the nicer down-town Los Angeles hotels are booked. Any recommendations on where to look if I expand my search radius? I will need to be on-site at the convention center, so I suppose that car-free would be best... but open to suggestions. (I'd prefer not to be by the airport). Cost isn't a major factor, but probably wouldn't go as high as the Four Seasons for example. thoughts? I'll have a day or so available for touristy stuff, so those suggestions are welcome as well. thank you!

I'm heading to Hawaii and on our first day our flight lands in Honolulu at 8am but our flight to Kauai isn't until 5pm. Are there any hotel rooms that offer day rooms you can book in advance? So far we've tried the Pacific Marina Inn, but they said they cannot advise availability until the day. We really just want somewhere we can shower and store our bags, so any other suggestions are welcome.
