As seems to be the trend around here, my wife and I will visit Reykjavik in October. However, our flight gets in to Keflavik very early. Any suggestions for entertainment in the mean time? Additional questions inside. [more inside]
Due to a SNAFU, I'm landing at Kansai Airport, but staying (very) near Osaka Airport. I arrive at 9PM on Friday, but my hotel doesn't allow check-in after midnight. I'm concerned about making it there on time. Online calculators show taxis costing around $200. Is there a better way for me to make the journey?
I'll be in London somewhere around June 2016 and am looking for hotel recommendations. My stay will be approximately one week long. I will be spending extended periods of time in the hotel room working with one other person so I am primarily looking for hotels with very comfortable rooms. I would be very gratified if I could get some hotel recommendations in the 200 to 300 USD range (although if you happen to know of some amazing sub-200 USD hotel, please do tell). [more inside]
I'll be arriving in Berlin in the evening (earliest I'll be out of the airport is 9pm), with an early early morning flight the next day. Do I just get a hotel close to the airport and sleep? Or do I try to see a sliver of Berlin for the first (and maybe only) time ever that evening, somehow? Difficulty factor: grumpy old person who needs sleep. [more inside]
We are looking to stay in Kauai (or possibly another Hawaiian island) for a week in the spring and am having the hardest time finding a place to stay that has a zero-entry pool, a separate sleeping area, a/c, and is priced under $300/night. Are these criteria unreasonable or is there hope? [more inside]
The husband and I would like to go on a trip in before we have our first child. Our ideal would be a relaxing and beachy vacation spot in the tropics (Mexico, Belize, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico?)—big bonus if it's a place we might want to return to in later years with our kid or kids! Specific resort/condo/hotel recommendations appreciated. [more inside]
Our family rarely takes vacations, and even then, just to visit family, or at best, to a nearby lake. But big leaps forward in our careers have us thinking it's time to finally treat ourselves. We're thinking of taking the kid to Vegas for Christmas and rolling out, if not all the stops, many more than we've customarily been able/willing to afford. Give us tips for Vegas in general, Vegas for families, Vegas at the holidays, and small and medium things we can do to feel like high rollers. [more inside]

(1) We have about 20 days to spend in between Barcelona and Lisbon (2) We can get anywhere but won't have a car once we're there...no license (3) We want coastal, but not built up like Barcelona (or even like Italian/French Riviera) (4) Our budget is somewhat flexible (ballpark of $200/nite), but it's more about the feel of the area [more inside]
It looks like I'm going to be moved onto a work project that will involve some significant travel, something like one week a month. I know that the real road warriors in the audience will scoff at that amount, but this will be the first time I've traveled consistently enough that it seems worth it to figure out the details of the various rewards programs and make them work for me. So tell, me what are the best deals out there? Credit card rewards? Mileage programs? Hotel chain loyalty programs? Details inside. [more inside]
In Nashville for a random Wednesday night in May. Where can we stay that will allow us to see a bit of the city and have a fun night preferably without driving? [more inside]
Hello Portlanders - I'll be coming to your fair city in mid-April and although I've visited a few times previously I don't really have a go-to hotel near the city. Can you recommend some good options? [more inside]
I'll be driving from Wisconsin to Panama City Beach, FL next week and we are looking for a place to rest our heads somewhere around GA or TN. Can you recommend a hotel on (or close to) the highway where we won't be shanked in the middle of the night? Our route will be on I-65, thanks in advance!
I'll be going to a conference in Toronto the first week in June. The conference will be at the convention center. Find me a great place to stay! [more inside]
First time visitor has a layover from 1 pm to 11 am the next day in Hong Kong. Was advised to see the action and stay in central Hong Kong instead of Kowloon. I am looking for a centrally located hotel costing about $250 (is that possible???) and need suggestions on what to do. I am having problems finding a "centrally located" hotel because I don't know what I should see. Single female traveler. I understand it is very safe even to venture out after dark to see the dramatic skyline. Anything I should definitely do or see? Up for a hectic and fun time before I sack out on an overseas flight the next morning. Thanks, hive.
I understand that a good tip (how much?) will be in order. How do I ask the concierge to store my bag, while offering the tip for the service? Do I tip up front or when I pick up the bag? Problem: I will have been a guest at the hotel for one night the week before, but not the night before asking for the storage. [more inside]
Hi! I'm trying to choose a town to stay in, possibly not all that far from Hartford. I'd like it to be non-urban, non-strip mall, and not a wasteland like near an airport or industrial area. Beyond that, I don't have too many specifications… [more inside]
My girlfriend and I have spent several hours picking out places to stay from AirBNB listings in Copenhagen. It SEEMS like there are so many wonderful, available places to stay. But my booking requests (5 so far) have all been declined by the hosts. What's going on here? How do I get a successful booking? [more inside]
I'm looking for a cheap place to crash off Rt. 95 near (or slightly North of) Portland, ME this Friday night. I will be arriving late-ish and leaving early the next morning, so hotel amenities are a non-issue. Most of the places I'm finding, your Days Inns and Travel lodges, are $150 or so minimum. I'd prefer to do better. [more inside]
I'm headed to San Francisco for a week at the end of the month. Work will reimburse up to $190 per night for a hotel. I really want to stay downtown for easier access to restaurants, bars and nightlife. I'm fine with driving to and from the worksite. Which hotel(s) would you recommend?

Looking for Parisian hotels in Monmartre or in central Paris with US-quality wifi or Internet access during the Christmas season. No wifi tokens or credits or anything like that, looking for flat fee wifi within guest rooms for at least one device. That the hotel be nice to stay at is a plus.
I am planning an anniversary trip to NYC for the third weekend in October - we would like someplace fun and reasonable to stay (an actual hotel, so AirBnB is out). We plan on doing some touristy things (a Broadway show, some of the big museums), but we would like to spend the rest of the time in a part of the city that's entertaining and quirky and a bit off the beaten path. Any recommendations of where to stay, and things to do once we're there, would be welcome. [more inside]

My husband and I (both 27) are going to be traveling to Bangkok and Toyko in late November and are trying to figure out what neighborhood is best to stay. Budget isn't an issue. Ideally we'd like to be close to the subway/public transportation in both places. Any ideas on good hotels in neighborhoods you'd recommend? For Bangkok we've heard that Sukhumvit is a great area. For Toyko, we heard Keio Plaza in the Shinjuku area. Not sure if that it is too much of a business/corporate area. We appreciate your help!

I've just booked an international trip with a 3/4-day layover on the way home. Great, I think, I can spend some time in the city, get a cheap hotel, see a few friends for dinner and then get some sleep and a shower before my trip home - easy! Problem: after booking the trip, I realize I will be in London during the Olympics, and hotel prices have accordingly skyrocketed. I am on a grad student budget. Help me find a decent place to stay - ideally not in a shared room - that won't kill my budget? [more inside]
