We have gone from Earthlink to Dreamhost to MediaTemple and we can't find a reliable email host. The website hosting generally is fine, but email downtime is killing our company. MediaTemple has been horrible since we switched to the Grid Server. Maybe we just need an email host. So- who has a good recommendation for a host that has given you worry-free uptime? Any I don't want responses from anyone who has only been with their host a day, a week or a month. Long term please.

What's a good
free, semi-anonymous Web hosting service that isn't quick to take down content? I want to post some satirical artwork I created, but not get canned because of some overreactive corporate legal department. I've heard Dutch sites are good for this. Any thoughts? And does Google do a good job indexing free servers?

I'm asking for advice on which web applications you would recommend to a person wanting to start their own web-page. I am new to web-page design and want to get up and running on a simple web-page relatively quickly and easily. I'm not afraid of trying to create some of my own design as I know a little HTML and the bare basics of web design - CSS etc -- it's just I haven't used it in real life yet. My e-mail provider (runbox) provides free web-site hosting and I needed to buy a domain name which I did. I want to start my own web page for personal use on items such as pictures, surveys or polls, blogs, discussions etc. My domain provider uses the following applications and I'm asking for advice on which applications a new user, relatively green on the tech side, should use. See below for the list of supplied web applications (if that is what you call them).

A dedicated Fedora Plesk server has been set up for me at a hosting company, and as a site admin I'm not sure what to do next. Is there a good guide or tutorial anywhere that will get me up to speed on preparing a dedicated server for a website that uses PHP and mysql? Will I have to install Apache? Are those programs normally installed by default with run-of-the-mill dedicated hosting? This company's documentation is scarce and I think I'm in over my head.

Can anyone suggest a good, free, online image hosting service? PhotoIsland is gone, PhotoBucket is shit and freely goes into my files and deletes images (like nude photographs of my girlfriend that did not show any nipple or genitalia and a cartoon I drew of us screwing -a cartoon!-) and their server is either really slow or just 'locks' half the time, so loading images for a post on my blog is a huge chore.
I'm looking for a fast, realiable service that will not censor my PG-13 content.
I understand that these are free services and I shouldn't bitch, but they need to understand that they wouldn't have advertisers without users like me.

Thanks to your earlier
help, I have successfully ported my C# project over to the Mac. I have also ordered a new DSL line with a static IP from bway.net. What do I need to know in order to host my website, accessible via my TLD, on a PowerPC Mac mini running OS X 10.4? How can I be my own DNS and mail server? Without overshadowing that question, would it be smarter to think in terms of DynDNS for external DNS/mail services?

Is it possible to implement domain-part redirection on URLs, along these lines:
http://foo.bar.com/baz/0001.html
becomes
http://new.domain.com/0001.html
for any instance of "foo.bar.com/baz/*", that segment of the URL is replaced by "new.domain.com/*"
If so, are there multiple methods? [MI]

I need an easy (free or very cheap) way to make and host websites. I've been using blogger since it is free and easy, but I'd ideally like more of a website format, rather than a blog format (no comments, and being able to keep my main messages right at the top). Any advice appreciated.
