A previous question exists, but it's from 2007. Looking for updated recommendations for an undercabinet-mounted, 30-inch vented range hood. [more inside]

I have the Novara Express 2.0 cycling jacket from REI. It's great! But it's supposed to come with a "Novara compatible hood," sold separately, which I can't find for sale anywhere. Halp? [more inside]
My Halloween costume is this awesome bear hood, which I would like to make more awesome with a little customization. Suggestions welcome. [more inside]
We replaced our well-loved Caloric kitchen stove with a new range, and now we need a range hood. We're sort of confused by the choices. Can you help us figure out what brand/model to get given our requirements? Bonus for personal stories, and detail about where to order. [more inside]
Our range hood has become death, destroyer of light bulbs. We're having to change bulbs about once a month, even after switching from normal to "oven"-type. We never use the hood fan, either. Any ideas on what might be causing this, and a possible simple fix short of asking our landlord to replace the hood?
Ikea sells "exhaust hoods" like this Luftig for $379, and it sells "exhaust fans" like this Luftig for $99. How are they different that's worth $280? It can't be just the extra stainless steel and faux industrial style since this Eventuell which mounts under a cabinet sells for $499. [more inside]
Doing a major kitchen reno on a new old house, and the layout has no good spot to install a range hood. I've owned houses with a range hood and houses without one, and the only difference I've noticed is that the ones without one need a bit more frequent cleaning, although not really much. Actually very little. Maybe the kind of cooking I usually do doesn't require one? Do you have a range hood? Do you not? Is it merely a bright shiny status symbol? Do you think it's important to have one? Why?
So I've got a nice oven and a nice overhead hood. Unfortunately, behind the facade of wooden veneer is NOTHING. No vent, no fan, nothing. Can I install a fan up there? [more inside]

Are there resources on the internet where I can find information about what's under the hood of my car? I just feel that being a man and all I should have a good idea of what I'm looking at when I pop the hood of my car. I just want to learn the basics and maybe get a better idea of how stuff works under there. I have a Honda and a Toyota, and I know things are built differently under there, but if there's anything specific to those two then that would be preferable.
So a segment I filmed ('Robin Hood's Nottingham') for Australian TV's Channel 9 'Getaway' show has just aired and I'd love to see the result - but as I'm in the UK I can't watch the online video at the show's site and it hasn't shown up on YouTube (or as a torrent) so is there any simple way I can get to see (or better still download) it? Many thanks!
We moved to a new shack in September. I say "shack," because the house had been neglected for 20+ years, it had no floor (!), a moldy bathroom, and a kitchen that had been constructed by an unskilled amateur cabinetmaker. So, a new kitchen was in order, and I arrogated to myself the role of kitchen architect. Mostly good choices were made, but I made a big mistake in measuring space for a downdraft ventilator for our cooktop, making it difficult to install a downdraft ventilator without using bulky ductwork on a highly visible side of our house. Both the normal inside-the-car hood release latch and the external back-up hood release cable have broken off of my friend's 98 Ford Escort Wagon, and we need to get under the hood to make the battery cooperate. [more inside]

Looking for advice/reviews/comparisons/details on simple, inexpensive under-cabinet vented range hoods. Not interested in the luxury "home-improvement porn" design-y stuff. This is not a sexy appliance, and I don't need it to be. For pete's sake. [more inside]

I was topping off the windshield washer fluid on my 1999 Toyota Tercel. That was easy enough, but now the hood won't completely shut. It will catch on the very first latch, but will not completely shut. How do I make it shut on my own? And if I can't do that, will it be safe enough to drive (not on major highways) until then? Well, our new old apt (it's new to us, but it's old) has no range hood. Looks like the previous owner decided to make a HUGE pass through. What solutions/options do I have (besides some sort of bizaare way to hookup an ordinary rangehood). Do the somewhat reviled ionic breeze / ionic cleaners work well enough to clean the air? It's a 600 sq ft apt.
