VW Jetta reliability and expense

My wife and I are looking to buy a used car. I've had my heart set on a Volkswagen Jetta seemingly forever. She has heard some horror stories about the cost of maintenance and repairs for VWs, and does not want to buy one. I've heard the same horror stories, but the data I've been able to find online hasn't confirmed them (although, to be fair, it hasn't entirely disproven them, either). I'd like to hear actual VW owners' stories to help us make a decision. [more inside]

Help me not rage-drive my car into a telephone pole

I have a 2016 Honda Fit. It has a Bluetooth connection, but I usually plug my phone into the aux cable so my phone can charge while I'm driving ( the aux connection overrides the Bluetooth). Whenever I do this and the car audio is on, my iTunes music automatically starts playing (in alphabetical order by song) as soon as the phone is plugged in. How can I keep this from happening? I can only hear "Alcohol" by the Barenaked Ladies so many times before I go mad.

Which Car Should I Keep?

I have a 2000 Toyota Camry V6 5 speed. It was not treated well and I have spent at least $2K over its sale price of $7K since buying it in 2011. I bought it with 117K miles and now it has 140K. I've had to fix an oxygen sensor, the ball joints and battery wiring along with replacing tires. But I think I am running out of problems to fix. Plus, it's loaded and comes with the power, comfort and style I like. [more inside]

6'2, new rider and looking for great first motorcycle

I just got my Endorsement after taking the Ride Oregon 3 day class and I am itching to get on my own ride and tool around! I am looking mostly at older Hondas (CM4000 specially) as I like their look and they have a reputation for being pretty bulletproof and great first riders. I, as of today, have not sat on any Hondas other than some older dirt bikes when I was younger and a old co-workers 250cc. So what I am asking is, will this bike fit me (6'2, 183lbs, 30' inseam)? If not, any models you can recommend? Since this is my first, I'm not looking to go over 700cc, with a 400-600cc non-cruiser being ideal for my eventual commute on the freeways.

Car not included in recall that affects the transmission. What can I do?

I drive a Mobilio Spike (2005) in Japan. That model year was recalled en masse due to transmission design problems that cause shudder on acceleration. I have complained about this problem to the dealership a few times, but never got any information about the recall. It turns out that my car's production date is outside of the range of the recall by just a couple months, even though it suffers from the same problem. What can I do? I don't need any country-specific information, just general ideas if anyone knows how the recall system works. Oh, the extended warranty period to deal with the transmission issue is past, although I did raise the issue with the dealer during the warranty period--and those conversations are part of my official service record.

Should I fix the A/C in my 2004 Honda?

I have a 2004 Honda Civic Hybrid. The clutch in the A/C compressor is bad, as diagnosed by a well-respected mechanic. He doesn't want to do the repair, recommended the dealer. Dealer price for compressor replacement is US1165(ouch). Without A/C, trips of any length are pretty miserable. The noise from an open window at 70 mph is not pleasant, and I assume it affects the mileage. I can manage short trips up to an hour or so. It's been an especially humid summer in Maine so far. The Honda has 110,000 miles, and is in good condition. I question putting so much money into a car this old(Bluebook @ 6,200), though I expect to keep driving the car for the next several years.
