I want to buy an audio interface for home recordings. Specifically, I want to record onto (most likely) a Mac, and I need more than 2 simultaneous inputs, since I will often be recording drums. I would prefer to spend under 200€. Give me your opinion and experiences!

I have a very clear memory of part of an interview in the film
Hype! wherein a member of.. some band.. I can't remember. And frankly, my mind might be fabricating this whole memory for want of such a thing to exist.. but he was talking about pressing vinyl LP's at home, recording them OVER other records that were bought from a store. Then taking the sleeves and pasting new art over the old.. I remember a clip where he seems to operating some sort of home version of a vinyl lathe. The record looking smooth and blank up until the point of the needle, where you see grooves being made as the record spins past. Then taking the sleeves and pasting new art over the old.. I'd like to get into recording. I've played with Ardour, but it's way over my head. I've played with Hydrogen for drum sounds, and it was way too complicated for me. Ideally, I want to record directly (I'm in an apartment), perhaps using something like a Line 6 Pod. A four-track feels more manageable to me than a computer and software. Is that crazy? If it's not, I'd love to hear about some cheap digital four-track recommendations. Also, I'd love to hear about some decent, inexpensive drum machines that'll let me easily create simple rock beats. And again, I'm open to the idea that this is better with a computer.

After reading
this post today, I'm wondering... what are some great home-recorded and/or lo-fi albums? Doesn't have to be a similar style, but I'm definitely more interested in individual efforts. Still, all suggestions are welcome.

I'm looking for recommendations for equipment for my home audio recording setup (using GarageBand). Specifically, I want an audio interface capable of 24-bit recording with midi and microphone inputs. Many more details about my setup within!

Help this musician get started with home recording. I've written lots of music and its time to get it recorded. I have basically zero equipment and zero knowledge, so start me from the beginning.

HomeRecordingFilter. Of course, I'm recording an album at home. I'm already using a Rode NT1A mic, but I want to get the effect of a vocal coming through and old radio. I understand that I can fiddle with the EQ controls in CoolEdit (I mean, Adobe Audition...) and emulate the desired effect, but does anyone have any more tips to get the vintage wireless sound? While I'm at it - does anyone have any home recording tips in general?
