I feel terrible because of my paunch. I am otherwise mostly fit. I try to do some cardio, some light jogging, cycling on a roller etc.
I am too self conscious to go to a gym or go to a trainer. Besides, I live in the middle of nowhere and don't really have any good gyms or so nearby.
Are stuff like this
(Thane Total Flex Home Gym) useful? [more inside]

Where can I find an official manual for a Schwinn 734s Strength System? Googling brings up some crapware sites, the Schwinn site has nothing about it, it was bought many years ago and I can't seem to find it a manual. [more inside]

I'm looking into making my home gym better equipped. I've had one of those all-in-one machines that do the pulley benchpress, the butterfly and leg curls. I also have a bar with weights that I do those arm curls on. I went to a gym the other day, and see how limited I am with just doing benchpresses on a pully system. It looks as if free weights are the way to go, meaning I'll need a bench and such. I'm clueless on what to get and searching usenet comes up with flame wars on how differeint exercise machines will cause cancer/spontaneous abortions. [more inside]

Need recommendations for home exercise equipment (male, mid-20s). My requirements are (1) cost, (2) compactness, and (3) targeted toward a cardio workout with the ultimate goal of losing weight. I saw this
on TV last night, and while it's marketed to a thighs-and-butts demographic, the size, concept, and price range is kind of what I'm looking for. Anyhow, I'd appreciate hearing any advice from happy or unhappy consumers of these types of products.
