Even when I have free time, I find myself rarely doing the thing called "relaxing". I'm looking for how I can better relax, and what I can do to give myself a better environment to do so.

Have you seen (within the last decade) these pictures from a home design magazine? Traditional Asian (Japanese?) style - high ceilings with dark beams, large open spaces, tatami mats and paper screens, and very little else.

We are thinking of painting/residing our house but are lacking in design sense! We think we want a BIG change, but do not know where to start in improving our curb appeal. We would like to hire someone to help with the house design but do not know where to start. Can you point me in the right general direction on the type of person to hire for this sort of thing? General info is welcome, we live near Pittsburgh,PA if you know specifics.

I recently acquired 1.6 acres in Vermont and want to decorate my house with botanical illustrations of the trees on the property. I've found historic drawings by Michaux, Jaume Saint-Hilaire, and Bessa, but it seems as though I can only by prints from
one website, and they are around $140 each. There must be a less extravagant option. They need not be historic, but they should be legible and help identify what can be seen through a nearby window.

Househunting in VT. How feasible is adding a 600sq/ft addition (master suite above living room) to an existing 800 sq/ft Cape Cod? Could it be done by the end of the summer for under $100K?

I'm moving from a small, really nice place in a sweet neighborhood to a larger, less swank place in a considerably less sweet neighborhood. There are no trees on my street, a lot more trash, and it's noisier. Any tips for making my apartment prettier, a place that I'm just thrilled to come home to? I have a very low budget.
