I need recommendations for activities for someone with medical conditions that preclude reading, writing, watching much video, or walking for any significant amount of time.

I feel like I've tried the usual suggestions...I'm looking for more ways to "get out there", meet new people and have fun.

Give me some things I can do/accomplish? I'm slipping into a dark, sad place that I can't talk myself out of. Therapy and anti-depressants/anti-anxiety are taken care of.

I'm looking for suggestions for new activities and/or hobbies (particularly team-based ones) in and around the Chicago area. While there are similar questions out there, one unique element of this question is my personal guidelines (of varying degrees of importance) that has forced me to rule out some of the more common selections like "Play tennis!" or what have you. This is not to say I won't give something a try, but that I may be better suited to one activity over another.

What are some activities in Los Angeles that I could sign up for and take part in on a regular basis with a group of other people? Some kind of weekly thing, maybe. The best example I can think of is something like a knitting club... but not specifically a knitting club because knitting just ain't my thing. I am thinking of something creative/arts-related, though. I just don't know of anything in particular that I could check out. Anyone in LA involved in or know of something like this that they can recommend?

What kinds of activities can a couple enjoy together (besides the obvious)? We're engaged, early 30s, no kids, together for 3 years. A lot of that time has been fairly busy - grad school, different jobs, moving. Now we're settled down to an extent, and we're getting bored. Well, at least I am.

I am an engineer who is a workaholic. I'm quitting my job & starting another one, with the hopes of keeping more regular hours. Part of my problem is that I don't have commitments after work that require me to be elsewhere. Particularly, I don't have any hobbies that aren't engineering/computer related.
What kind of hobbies would you recommend to a mid-30s adult that could be fun and engrossing and not earth-shatteringly hard to pick up?
