Is this anaphylaxis?

Several times in the past 2 years, my husband has had episodes of skin redness. He also seemed oddly drunk. He's already promised me he'll make an appointment with our doctor about it, but I'm curious what questions he should be asking and what precautions we should take. [more inside]

Just had my allergy breakout (Hives) and my face looks like a map

I have never had an allergic reaction before so I don't know what to do. I just had hives that lasted for 2 weeks. I went to the doctor and they gave me some shots and it was gone in a day, but it came back the second week - I kept taking my meds so the hives are mostly gone now. Some spots were still kind of itchy but its mostly just dark marks on my face. I was wondering if anybody knows how to remove these dark spots on my face because I really feel uncomfortable looking at the mirror and seeing myself like I'm looking at a moon. [more inside]

Must survive for 3 days without antihistamines

I have to stop taking antihistamines for 3 days in order for my allergist to run a test. It's looking like an impossible task - I've already changed the appointment date once because my hives were too much to handle, and I'm sure I would've torn my skin off. So how can I actually do this? Any tips for surviving what looks like idiopathic urticaria? [more inside]

Does this bee behavior make sense?

Beekeepers of Mefi, needing ideas/reassurance: mass washboarding behaviors on the front of the hive, bees all over front entrance -- everyone I've talked to so far has said it's a swarming behavior... but is it? They're certainly taking their sweet time. [more inside]

Shingles lite?

So I have all the symptoms of shingles, just...less so. Rash above my left eye, intensely freakishly itchy moving into pins and needles and stabbing pain in my left temple. Also swollen lymph nodes, et cetera et cetera. But I'm told shingles is excruciating, and this is more highly obnoxious. Could it still be shingles, or is that impossible? (FWIW, I've seen a doctor, and she was on the fence too)

Itchy disaster girl goes swimming.

I currently have a nasty bunch of poison ivy rashes, and expect I'll be rid of that within the next week. The worst of the ivy welts is on my ankles and calves. Yesterday I got a whole new batch of red itchy hives, as clearly my body was not happy about the new detergent I got. They are especially bad thanks to the heat, and especially bad on my hands, elbows, and knees. I know generally what to do to care for them and keep the itching to a minimum. What I don't know is if it is ok to go swimming in a pool. I don't want to screw up the pool OR my already decimated skin. In general, I do not have a chlorine sensitivity.

I have hives. They're making me crazy.

I have really bad hives. I've been to the doc, and I have a follow up with her next week. I'm on meds. But the hives are still here and they're making me miserable. Is there something I'm missing or something I should ask the doc about? [more inside]

What cosmetic brands are *really* hypoallergenic?

My wife has fairly severe contact dermatitis on her face. She has tried several different types of "hypoallergenic" brands of makeup, including Almay and Neutrogena, but they all give her hives. Are any made-up MeFites familiar with brands/lines that will not cause her allergies to flare up? [more inside]
