I was rear ended by a semi truck driver who did not stop to exchange information. I filed a police report and an insurance claim and have been advised to press charges. Is there anything else I should be doing to make sure the responsible party pays for the damage to my car? Details inside.

I received a court summons - eeek! They'd like me to be a witness at another individual's criminal trial (whew!). What should I expect? Note: this question involves Pennsylvania and the the Magisterial District Court system.

Seattle long-shot filter: this morning I was in a hit and run accident with a van (the van was the hitter and runner, not me). The van was from a van service company that I've seen around, but I don't know the name. I'd like to try to figure this out before I call my insurance company. Metafilter detectives, please help me get some justice! Details about the van inside.

On saturday, the family of a friend of mine
was killed by a hit and run driver on I-55 outside of New Orleans. My question is; Do you have any ideas how we can raise awareness of this accident, locally, so we might find the hit and run driver?

A few weeks ago, an oncoming tanker truck ran me off the road on a curvy two-lane highway. I (barely) managed to avoid a collision or rollover but did clip a mailbox. Now whenever I drive the roads in this rural area, I'm constantly worried that oncoming cars are going to veer into my lane.

Car accident in Sept. Swapped info; didn't call police. Now the guy who hit us has never heard of us. What can I reasonably expect?

Advice on filing an accident report where I'm not at fault, but was in a situation that commonly defines me as being at fault? (Chicago, IL if that matters, oh and the vehicle who hit me left the scene)

A hit-and-run accident. I was in one today, after being rear-ended by the idiot. After the guy takes off onto a nearby freeway onramp, I follow him and he exits at the next offramp. He then runs a red light, sideswiping two cars in the process, and I lose him. [more inside]
