Acoustic guitar songs that are "metal"

What are some songs featuring acoustic guitars, rather than electric, that could still be considered "metal"? In this case I'm using a definition of metal to mean dark and/or aggressive in tone, style, or intent. Doesn't necessarily have to mean the song comes from a metal band. Danzig's "Come to Silver" would be one example.

Suggestions for songs that include drums, bass, and vocals as backup to the acoustic guitar is ok. Bonus points for songs that qualify due to the songwriting, not the technical difficulty, as this list is for a beginning guitar player that has no interest in Mary Has A Little Lamb.

I'm thinking of a song...

Hopefully this won't be too obscure...

There was a pretty popular Japanese rock band that had a song which was basically a rocked out heavy metal version of Dies Irae from Verdi's requiem. I think the CD is from the early 90's or so. What's the name of the band?

(and no, it's not from the Battle Royale soundtrack. That was a purely orchestral version)

Help ID this Heavy Metal Song and Artist.

Name this modern Heavy Metal band or Song Ok, I apologize for not having a lot to go on here. The band is moderately heavy, but not quite Death Metal. The singer sounds remarkably like Mike Patton at times. Smooth singing at some points, spine chilling screaming at others. The single is recent, within the last 6 months, and has been in light rotation on my local rock station, and on Sirius Hard Attack. However, none of them have it listed on their playlists. The only clue I can give you to the song is that it sounds like they are saying "Strangest Candyyyyyyyyy" during the chorus. It's not Mushroomhead, but the music is as heavy. It's also not Avenged Sevenfold, but it is in the same family as these artists.

Name that J-pop tune

Identify this J-Pop band from the following vague description. Walking through Nakano Broadway in Tokyo last weekend, I heard a great song playing over the speakers in Mandarake. Not knowing any Japanese, I couldn't ask who it was. It sounded new - very heavy metal riffs with a sweet little Japanese girl vocal over it, then erupts into screaming. All Japanese language, and it didn't sound like the usual suspects (Ayumi Hamasaki etc...)

Does it ring a bell? I think i also heard it blaring from a shop in Akihabara, so it may be a new release..

I know it's a vague question, but any hints would be appreciated.

Question number 9471

I just discovered Sabbatum, an album of Black Sabbath covers-- in latin. I've been an Apocalyptica fan for years as well. Anyone know of other albums of metal songs covered in an unusual fashion?
