I'm a music teacher and I also have severe upper respiratory allergies. I try everything I can to work on them however, I feel some parents are not holding their end of the bargain. They tend to bring their seemingly healthy child into a lesson when they're actually sick. I keep getting ill as a result and as a professional singer, I can't afford to get sick. I want to make a notice detailing what is sick before their child runs into a lesson. How should I address this issue? [more inside]
I've been adding this superfood powder to smoothies lately for breakfast and would like to continue to, but I seem to have a little bit of an allergy to something in it, perhaps grass pollen? My question is, is this inherently dangerous if it's only been a bit of a passing irritant, or will it actually improve with consistent repeated exposure (like with allergy shots)? [more inside]
For the past few months, I've been steadily spitting up food after I eat. If it acts up it tends to keep happening for hours after I have last eaten. There was one time before I started GERD medication that I woke up in the morning with half-digested food in my mouth. Ack! I've had an EGD done, and he said it was normal, though he also said that he dilated my esophagus to 18mm, which is considered a normal width. I was on omeprazole and recently switched to lansoprazole, which isn't working as well. I'm getting heart burn now, too. Any advice? [more inside]
My husband and I are honeymooning on Gran Canaria and, in a silly mood, got henna tattoos from a stall on the oceanside. Back at the hotel, I googled for tips on henna tattoo care and discovered that the vendor used "black henna" containing PPD, which can cause severe skin reactions and further health problems. So far, the only multivitamin that I have not had a bad reaction to has been Apex Performance Multivitamin, which I last used 5 years ago. It appears to have been discontinued. [more inside]

I'm heading over to Europe in a few weeks and I'm curious about the differences in food quality and food ingredients as compared to the U.S. What will I find there that might be emblematic of a different system or attitude toward food? [more inside]
Please help me deal with my newly diagnosed Asthma and allergies. I know you are not my allergist. [more inside]
I'm thinking about doing a diet/nutrition experiment on myself where I cut out foods that are known to cause serious health issues (disease and/or allergic reactions). What resources can best help me with this? [more inside]
Immune system filter: My immune system is weird! I'm generally healthy, but really susceptible to staph infections (mostly impetigo), and don't react to histamine. [more inside]

I want to buy area rugs that will have the minimum possible negative impact on my family's health (crawling baby, spouse with allergies). Low to moderate budget. Are Ikea wool rugs the way to go? If not, any other ideas for non-offgassing, somewhat non-allergenic, but still comfy floor coverings? [more inside]

If you recently made the switch from a CFC-propelled asthma inhaler to a non-CFC-propelled inhaler, how has it been? I've seen news reports that the spray is softer so you may not feel like you've gotten the full dose, and the inhalers have to be cleaned more often, and was curious to hear from people who've actually made the transition as I wait for my seasonal allergic asthma to kick in any day now. Any hints for making the adjustment smoother?
What is the best disposable 1 inch air filter for my son who has seasonal allergies and why? [more inside]
Is it safe to mix 24 hour Loratadine (Claritin) with 25-50 Diphenhydramin HCl (Benadryl)? My allergies are killing me and the loratadine does not seem to be doing the job.
Seasonal allergy relief: I've read a bunch of the previous questions, but was wondering about allergy medicines that have gone prescription to over-the-counter or brand-name to generic since last spring. I know there's a generic Zyrtec now, but was wondering if there are any others that might be more affordable/available than they were last spring.
Suddenly I'm allergic to polyester. But.... a lot of pants and skirts and dresses out there have at least 5% polyester in them. What do I do? [more inside]
How do loratadine and diphenhydramine HCI work? Specifically, how is it that both can help control allergies, yet have different side effects? I'm particularly interested in how loratadine works without causing sleepiness, while a single 25 mg capsule of diphenhydramine is able to knock me out in a matter of minutes.
What is the best allergy medicine (prescription or over the counter) for allergies to dogs or cats? So many seem more geared towards allergies to mold, dust, hayfever, etc. [more inside]

It's all the cat's fault. I have cat allergies and the only thing that's worked so far is Zyrtec. Great, only the problem is that my insurance company thinks that a fair co-pay for this particular miracle drug is $35 for a month's supply. A quick Google search turned up a lot of (supposedly) Canadian companies willing to sell me branded and generic Zyrtec at much lower prices. My question: is it safe to order prescription drugs -- assuming you've actually been prescribed them by your doctor, which I was -- through online Canadian sources?
I have an allergy which makes fleas bites on my body a real problem. In a concentrated infestation, I may actually become ill from too many. I'm looking for an effective way to keep my house clear of them. [more] [more inside]
