Physical movement-based practices for grief?

I'm nearing the two-year anniversary of my dad's death, and a close friend just lost a family member in a tragic accident. As I remember my dad and support my friend, I am craving some sort of movement-based grief ritual - an active dance, set of motions, physical practice, to do with others, potentially at my (UU) church. Psychic surgery - is it real or fake?

So I've been a spiritual healer for a couple of years now and I wonder what direction to steer it in. Whilst talking to a senior, she mentioned 'psychic surgery', but didn't go into it at all. And as soon as I type 'psychic surgery' into Google, I have a Wikipedia page saying it has been disproved. I know you shouldn't believe every word on Wikipedia, especially with subjects that are going to be relying on information from people with heavily biased views; in the same way that when you mention spiritual healing to some people they call it black magic and do not want to talk about it ever again with you. Recovering anorexic dealing with weight comments? TW

I am a 28 y/o female in recovery for restrictive eating/anorexia and exercise bulimia/anorexia athletica. TW -- I'm trying to heal (gain weight) but I'm having a hard time dealing with continuing comments about how "tiny" and "great" I look (I'm in the US and for some reason people always feel inclined to say these types of things). Please see my extended text. I need advice on how to respond to and ignore these comments. If you have gone through something similar I'd love to hear from you. [more inside]

Pain - it got good to me?

I've been in chronic pain--rarely acute, but constant, flitting about different parts of my body--for years: diagnosis: early Fibro. In early spring, I started getting really bad headaches from clenching my teeth. Not the first time I've had the problem, but never before this intense and for this long. Then about a month ago, I developed lower-back/sciatic pain--again, I've had it before, but never so badly or for so long. The two things didn't overlap much, but they sort of drowned out my regular aches and pains. Now my back problem is clearing up, and I find myself in a panic about not being in pain anymore [more inside]

Help me deal with subclinical... everything...

Despite all my efforts and success(!) in treating myself well and recovering, I feel like my anguish over this sexual assault that happened to me over a year ago still subtly manifests itself in many aspects of my life. And it is precisely the "subtle," diffuse nature of these symptoms that makes me uncertain as to how best to proceed. Details inside. [more inside]

How to fix large patches of scar tissue?

I have large patches of raised scars and broken blood vessels across huge areas of my body. (I'm an adult in my twenties.) None of this was ever self-inflicted, nor desired in any way at any time. Can any of this be fixed medically/surgically if I save up the money? What about the purple/red marks crisscrossing my flesh? I know that laser surgery is possible for single scars, and to remove tattoos, but as for improving skin quality, I have no idea. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'm not traumatized... Am I? (Sexual assault recovery)

I was sexually assaulted a few times and stalked/harrassed by an abusive, predatory and highly manipulative man who was in a position of trust to me. (We weren't in a relationship; he is nearly three times my age.) I am confused about where I should "be" or where I amin terms of getting over the events. Counselors and websites are quick to point out things like PTSD and rape trauma syndrome; they are suggesting things like EMDR and strongly hinting that I'm traumatized. I'm not convinced. Is it possible to actually be traumatized and not realize/recognize it? Is a "trauma response"... with panic attacks, flashbacks, and such... the only possible response to rape and harassment? Secondly: Is therapy always necessary to deal with this sort of thing? Or is it possible that I have/will get over it by myself? I don't want to pathologize myself. I don't want to create new problems for myself by going to therapy that I might not actually need. I wanted to ask metafilter because the counselors I speak to are obviously going to be somewhat biased in telling me that I am "traumatized". [more inside]

Best books to heal from rape / sexual assault

I've been Googling and looking through different lists of recommended books (including some recommended by orgs like RAINN) about healing from sexual trauma, but I'm looking for 1 or 2 good books that are reasonably-priced. (Many of these books seem to be out of print and therefore expensive.) This is about an assault that happened to me as an adult, so books about child abuse are out. What I don't want: hokey, religious, new-age, preachy, textbooks, "workbooks" My ideal book would deal with many of the symptoms of Rape Trauma Syndrome, including having "body memories" of the assault. Hope this is descriptive enough.

Holistic, beautiful, affordable retreat in nature for the Breast Cancer threatened

After scary "you may have breast cancer" tests over the last year and a winter of too much flu and allergy-induced misery, I need a long-weekend getaway to a beautiful, allergen-free or almost free retreat in our majestic country. For a very affordable price. I feel like I need physical and emotional healing and restoration on this trip. I like restorative (or Iyengar) yoga, organic food, massage, hikes/walks outside, swimming in warm water, etc. I want to be around DOWN TO EARTH, interesting (not spooky spiritual) healing people. In a lovely place. I can do a house swap or retreat swap and a barter thing - I have good massage therapy skills and license....and a charming place in a hip village in a cool-to-visit city with a lovely guest room to rent.
