productreviewfilter: I am considering buying the Sony Bluetooth Wirleless Transmitter for iPod along with the Sony DRBT21G/B Stereo Bluetooth Headset for a birthday gift for a friend who runs on a treadmill most of the time, outside sometimes. Have you used these? is there a better combo that might be preferred by a runner? Thank you in advance!

I often make calls that I need to take notes during, and have up until now been using the speakerphone function on my cell so I can type. A good friend told me that it sounded unprofessional, it picked up too much other sounds around me, I should consider getting a bluetooth headset for my phone. I did, getting the Jabra BT500, which was the top recommendation in Consumer Reports. It's a stylish behind the ear one. I really liked the looks, the intuitive use of it, that you could get it on your head quickly (I don't want/need to wear it all the time) and that it felt like it would stay on your head. However, in talking with that same straight shooting friend, they said, after two calls, that it was picking up the external sounds even more so, and often even more then my own voice! They suggested looking for one with good noise filtering abilities. That's where you come in. I'd like to know some of your favorites, that you've used for more then a day. [more inside]

Skype Headset Filter: I'm planning on buying a Koss SB45 headset for skyping. My main question: What kind of connector comes off of the end of it [is it just ONE 1/8" miniplug??], and will it work with my Powerbook 15" 1.33Ghz G4 without a USB dongle? (Sub-question: Any skype headsets you'd recommend over the SB45?) [more inside]

Headsetfilter: I talk to friends overseas almost every day via Skype. Since June I've gone through 4 usb headsets and suddenly this week people are saying they can't hear me well on the one I bought in December... so I may be heading for number 5 if the mic on this one is actually going bad. Grrrr. Any recommendations for a USB headset that might actually LAST and do a good job with Skype for me? USB headsets ain't cheap... I can't afford to keep investing in 'em. [more inside]

I'm strongly leaning toward dumping Verizon and switching to Gizmo. What I'm curious about is the actual user experience of making and receiving VOIP calls. Is it be a hassle to be tethered to the computer via a headset? Do I need to leave my computer on all the time? How do I check voicemail (it's got something to do with e-mail, apparently -- does Gizmo e-mail me WAV files or something)? How do I dial out? If I'm making a call to an automated system that requires touch-tone data entry, how would I do this? How expensive and complicated would it be to route my calls to a conventional handset?

i have a Saab convertible and Washington DC requires a hands-free when using the mobile telephone. Any recommendations on a headset that will maximally cut out the wind noise artifact so that I can ride "top down"? Many of the commercial sets that I have tried still have a lot of noise due to wind.

I am looking to upgrade my cellphone (using Verizon) to one that works better with standard (non Bluetooth) headsets. Specifically, all I require is that the phone can both answer and dial (using voice) by pushing the button that is on the cord of my headset. I typically keep my phone in my pocket, so don't want to mess around with the phone itself while I'm commuting. After spending an hour with the Verizon stooge in his Circuit City booth without success, I thought that this would be a much more efficient place to find my answer. The phones that I saw seemed to answer incoming calls by pushing the button just fine, but they didn't seem to be able to make outgoing calls in the same way.
