After several years use of iPod headphones, I'm fairly sure I've damaged my ears listening too loudly with earbud style headphones. I have no interest in in-ear headphones, but my question is: is there an alternative to earbuds and in-ear that provide decent sound quality and are functional to use while exercising? (this rules out giant over the ear cans as well) I've seen behind-the head wrap-around headphones but they're usually cheap and tinny -- is there a high end version of those style that I could wear while sweating? What are the right headphones for me? Big head, normal ears, likes loud noises, $100-$200 budget. Mostly for listening to music on my iPod Touch, occasionally playing games on my computer using it's (reasonably competent) onboard audio. I understand the listening experience is subjective, but if I can narrow it down to a short list, I can work on getting my head on various items to see how they work for me. [more inside]

I buckled and bought a set of AKG k701 cans. They're currently hooked up directly to my Airport Express and sounding great, just lacking the final couple of decibels. Can anyone offer any advice on choosing a suitable headphone amplifier or, even better, suggest a recommendation (sub $500)?

I recently purchased an iPod Shuffle, and while I've been happy with it so far, I'm sick of Apple's earbuds. Are there any respectable headphones that the Shuffle can power without a significant decrease in battery life? I've searched AskMe, and while this question has come up in regard to full-size iPods, I'm worried about the ability of the Shuffle's tiny battery to keep my headphones going for more than thirty minutes at a stretch. If it helps, I'm considering buying a pair of Koss Portapros (I've had great experiences with them before and the price and size are right). Any suggestions are welcome.

My father is thinking about buying an iPod. One problem though is that he has a hearing aid in one ear (90% hearing loss in one ear due to a childhood ear infection), and he'd like in-ear 'phones, like those that come with the ipod, with independent volume control - so he can turn one ear off, and shunt the stereo > mono when he has the hearing aid in, and turn one way up when he has the hearing aid out. Any ideas?

Good noise-cancelling headphones for under $100? I'm moving into new work quarters where I'll be in a cubicle-type environment. I need headphones that will dampen the noise from my amiable-but-loud co-workers. I'm used to just hooking up the ole IPOD to my stereo speakers, but that won't do in the new space where I have no door. I don't like the buds that come with the IPOD. Any ideas?
