I'm looking for a headhunter in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area who specializes in brand strategy, market research or advertising. I've done some Google searches but those have not been particularly helpful. Does anyone know of any headhunters or places I should look for headhunters specializing in these areas?

Gettin' ready for gettin' canned ...

My employer wants to fire me, but I've got a little time. How do I land on my feet before I'm thrown to the street? My supervisor informed me that his supervisor want to fire me. They agreed on a "plan" that I am to follow to stay employed. This is game and I know how it works. The plan is set up so no matter what, I'll ultimately be fired. The upside of this game, is that I should have approximately 3 months to prepare myself for "that day." Any advice on the following would be excellent.

- Attorney. I'm going to be talking to an attorney in the next day or so. I want to be prepared when I am presented with the "plan." I also want to be ready for "the day." Any advice on what I should ask my attorney (Note: I'm a white male under 40, none of the discrimination stuff will work for me.)

- Headhunter and job seeking. I'm a financial analyst with a Ph.D. who does consulting and expert testimony. Job hunting tips or headhunter contacts would be most appreciated.

- Getting by. While my supervisor has been a staunch ally, I've found that some co-workers who I thought of as friends have been backstabbing me. Of course they don't know that I know, but they won't look me in the eye. How do you face these people day-in and day-out?

If you would like more details, send them to my throwaway account: shownthedoor@gmail.com.

Help Me Hunt a Headhunter

I'm a post-Ph.D. (not computer science, alas, but history) and have decided to seek my fortune outside academia. I have lots of experience organizing and researching and analyzing and presenting and teaching all sorts of things in all sorts of contexts, and have made my CV into a resume that shows I'm not just another egghead. Unfortunately, I'm coming up empty handed after several months of a full-court press, and I'm thinking it's time to contact headhunting/recruiting agencies that might be interested in someone like me. I'd love your thoughts and suggestions on which firms to contact in the New York area. By "people like me," I mean people who don't know C++ but can learn how to do pretty much anything short of figure skating and gymnastics quickly and do it well. And of course I'm also very grateful for any general job-related/New York-ish advice, including suggestions for temp agencies that might have especially challenging jobs for someone who is good at reading and thinking and writing.

Pre-emptive eternal gratitude.

ANyone know a good job recruiter and or resume development workshops in NYC?

Can anyone recommend a quality firm that will help me revise, update, and make my resume the best it can possible be, here in NYC? I am also looking for quality job recruiter or headhunters in NYC as well! I have been with my job for 8.5 years and I am totally burnt out and it is starting to show in my work. I never truly enjoyed what I did, but the money was good, so I pushed through. I have reached the point though, where the money is not a motivator anymore. It is affecting my personal life and I am stressed 24/7. I feel trapped because i have been here for so long, and while searching through some of the job sites out there, it seems like I am not qualified for anything but my current position (print ad sales).

I am on Monster, Career Builder, and Media Bistro currently, and with the exception of MB, the other two sites are filled with Scam jobs.

I have a pretty decent resume, that I feel just needs the once over by a pro who knows what companies look for these days when they scan over the countless amount of resumes they get on a daily basis.

I'd also like to meet with a job recruiter / placement, headhunting service which will maybe allow me to take an aptitude test, so I can see what directions I can branch out into.

I'd prefer to stay within the entertainment / music / tv field, but I am prepared to walk away.

So, I come to you guys for your help in helping me get started....

thanks!

Dance track track down

Help me find this dance track that's been taunting me for years... About 3-5 years back a local dance radio station in the UK got hold of a track that they called "Head Hunters, Son of the Devil". It was a great piece of music which they played quite frequently for about two months - then it vanished from the airwaves. All my attempts to find it have been thwarted and the radio station itself denies any knowledge of its existance...

What I know:
1) It is built around a sample that I associate with "The Omen" but which my wife thinks is "O Fortuna" from Carmina Burana.
2) At the time it was (theoretically) available as a white label in the UK, but no music store could actually find any stock for it.

Do I have any chance of ever tracking this track down?

Hiring a personal headhunter.

Some seem to be scams, but are there any reputable employee-hired headhunters out there? Headhunters are typically hired by companies to fill their open spots. Jobseekers are encouraged to submit resumes to these people but the companies are their clients, not the Joe Blow Jobseeker. Ultimately, one has to realize that the headhunters answer to the companies they contract with and are under no obligation or interest to find placements for the jobseekers who come their way.

Are there any headhunters that will take fees for guaranteed placement for the jobhunter, rather than for the companies?

San Francisco headhunters

I'm looking for recommendations for San Francisco-based headhunters to help me find a technology job (ideally in the financial sector). I'm currently in NYC, so I don't know much about SF-based firms. I'm hoping someone can let me know of a positive experience with a headhunter in the Bay Area (either the buy side or sell side) - that is to say a honest, well-connected recruiter. So far I've got some names by looking for recruiters that post openings on sites like hotjobs and dice, but I'm not sure these guys are necessarily the best place to start.
