I am an old guy who has lived a healthy life: Don't smoke, exercise daily, eat right, happily and serenely married. Take medications for blood pressure and cholesterol, pretty deaf, even with hearing aids. No changes in years. Haven't really had a headache in about 25 years. A couple of months ago, I started waking up with a mild frontal lobe headache which would generally last all day, every day. Varying intensity. My lifestyle hasn't changed in years and I'm looking for a way to solve this problem.

I get headaches that start at the base of the back of my head, then seem to radiate over my brow. Warm compresses almost always help.

Dear MeFites, please help me find a way to live without these constant headaches. I have had chronic daily headaches, and at least 2-3 migraines a month, for the past ten years. I have tried everything I can think of short of surgery but nothing besides taking painkillers seems to help (and those only a little these days).

Started with a god-awful headache early Thursday morning, developed back pain/spasms later in the day, and a fever (102.9F) that night. Everything else has subsided, but the back pain persists. So I've got a few questions...

Every now and then I get these headaches that will last two to three days. My head feels okay when upright, but the second I tip it either to the front or back, as in bending over to pick something up or leaning backwards in a chair with my head bent back, this stabbing pain occurs in my temples and towards the back of my head. I can take Extra Strength Tylenol and get some relief, but good lord what causes it?? And is there a way to get rid of or avoid them?

My girlfriend was told something by her doctor this morning that to my ears sounds strange, or at best misleading. He basically asserted that you should never take pills like Solpadeine and Syndol because they contain codeine and caffeine, which in the long run cause more headaches and ultimatley makes them worse.

Once in awhile, I get a short-lived pounding headache immediately after coming. It usually happens after a really big one. Yesterday the headache was all around my skull, in the back and top and everything. Why oh why?
