Hi all... long time listener, first time caller (poster) I have almost 100 DV/HDV tapes that I have recorded since about 2003. I have not been the best at labeling all my tapes, especially not lately since my twin sons where born. At the moment all my tapes are stored in a box in a drawer :-\ I am looking for a good method of cataloging and storing my DV/HDV tapes. Does anyone have any great, cheap and maybe do-it-yourself solutions for storing tapes. For cataloging I could imagine a google docs document or something, but if anyone has a better solution I would not mind. Stephen Copenhagen, Denmark

My friend and I are looking at HDV cameras and trying to decide right now between Panasonic's HVX200, Canon's XL H1, Sony's V1U, and JVC's HD110U (an upgrade of the HD100U, I believe). We're leaning toward the HD110U because of what we've seen of its picture quality, ability to switch lenses, and reported ease of use. Which one should we buy, what are the pros and cons? I want to import HDV footage straight from my HDV video camera (Sony) to my Sony VGX XL100 "Living Room PC" aka "Media Center", and then, if possible without reencoding it, play it out to my HD TV, or to my computer monitor. Is there software, or a software combination, to make this possible? [more inside]

Which HDV Hi-Def Camera should I buy? Looking at either the new JVC GY-HD100U (which shoots 720p) or the Sony HVR-Z1U (which shoots 1080i), both also shoot standard DV. I will be using the camera for business reasons...training videos, interviews, maybe a wedding or two. Basically I guess it comes down to 720p or 1080i. [more inside]
