Help me pick a modern home theatre receiver that can switch video and audio for a pretty big variety of devices. [more inside]
Any help finding an inexpensive digital projector to meet my home theater needs? [more inside]
I'm planning to buy a new video projector, and thought that while I'm at it I should buy a 3D-ready projector so that in a couple of years when there are more 3D movies available, I'll be ready to watch them. Ultimately I think I'll end up getting a new PC with Blu-Ray and probably an NVidia card to play 3D Blu-Rays, as per this AskMeFi thread. But do I need to get a 3D-ready projector with HDMI, like this Acer P1200? Or does HDMI not matter? I don't want to end up buying a projector only to find I can't plug it in to the right source a year down the line.
What do I need to look for in an HDMI switch that will enable my Mini-DisplayPort video signal to reach my projector? [more inside]
Audiovisual question. What will happen if I plug the HDMI output of a Sony Playstation 3 to the DVI port of this max. 1280x1024 pixel LCD projector? I would of course have a HDMI-DVI cable. Will I be able to display 720p or 1080i stuff? And if it doesn't work, are there devices out there that downsample HD so I can use the projector for pseudo-HD movies and games? I really do not want to buy an HDTV. If it matters, a PDF manual for the projector (2.2 MB) is here.
