A PVR which manages channels on a cable box?

I'm looking for a DVD/HDD recorder which can control a cable box. Does anyone have such a combo up and running? The aim is to record regular scheduled programmes from a PACE 4000 cable box. I don't really mind what kind of recorder I end up using, but I want to be able to archive selected programmes to DVD, and for the recorder to be able to switch channels on the cable box. Help!

HD-DVD/Blu Ray software for PC?

What PC software is out there for playing HD-DVDs and Blu Ray discs? I have a HD-DVD / Blu Ray combo drive in my PC. I've been using Cyberlink Power DVD 8 to play both my HD-DVDs and Blu Ray discs, but it's not ideal. The software is bloated and wonky, and recently quit outputting audio. There must be something else out there, right?

I'm just looking for a software based movie player that will play both disc formats without a hassle. I'm not interested in ripping them to my computer.

HD DVD errors...

HD DVD errors: normal or just us? It seems like HD DVD's we get from Netflix "skip" or cause errors like crazy if the disk is even slightly scratched. The symptom usually ends up being freezing or digital artifacts followed by regular movie but no sound. Is this something that is typical of HD DVD (and/or BluRay?) or just our player (Toshiba HD-A3)?

New HD DVDs without the Netflix wear and tear seem to be fine.

War. What is it good for?

Is it finally OK to buy a Blu-Ray player? Can I? Finally? Is this stupid 'format war' essentially over? I want to enjoy my new television, but I don't want to be the guy stuck with a bunch of DIVX discs.

I know its been asked before, and before, but with Warner going only Blu-Ray, is the question finally answerable?

Help me set up a home media center!

What is the best solution for setting up a media center that can serve regular DVD, HD DVD, BluRay, QT, MKV/H.264, AVI, et cetera to a 47 inch LCD at 1080p? A friend has charged me with figuring out how to set this up. The TV will be a 47" Vizio, I believe. He wants to have the full range of HD options available on this TV. Is a computer best? Anything specific? I'm open to ideas. Obviously keeping costs down is always great, but having all the options is crucial

I am looking for a bookshelf HDDVD Storage Tray

I am looking for a bookshelf HDDVD Storage Tray that resembles this DVD Storage Tray by Case Logic. Case Logic does not make the product I am looking for. HDDVD and Bluray discs come in a more compact plastic case that does not fit "snuggly" in the linked to storage tray...how irritating. Thanks for any help.

Blue-Ray vs. HD DVD.

Blue-Ray vs. HD DVD. Do we have a winner? I'm pretty sure the answer is "no," but I've had a good HDTV for about six months now and I'm itching to get an HD player, but am afraid of getting burned.

I have an XBox 360, and am thinking of getting the HD drive. But if the Blue Ray is going to be triumphant, then... not.
