I bought a place in a building built in 2007 that has granite counters. The previous owner apparently was not sealing them at all. I managed to clean and seal the kitchen one on Saturday, but there are a lot of hard white deposits that look like minerals from hard water around the bathroom sink that I can't remove. Help? I have had my dishwasher for about 4 years and this year the hard water build up has started to be very noticeable inside on the stainless steel interior. There are streaks of white, and spots inside of it, etc etc. It just looks blah. What are your suggestions for products or home remedies that I can use to make the inside of the dishwasher (somewhat) sparkly again? [more inside]
We have very hard water and it has a tendancy to stain stuff pretty quickly. The area of the sink and the tub just below the faucets are an endless battle. The only thing that has ever been able to get those stains out has been bleach, but now the bleach has only made things worse because they stain even MORE quickly. It really looks terrible. Help me fix my sink and tub so that we don't look like Grubby McSlobbersons. [more inside]
What simple, cheap things can we do to lessen the damaging effects of hard water on our fixtures and appliances? (Apart from installing a water softener which is not cheap or easy for our living situation.) [more inside]

HardWaterFilter: My mother is frustrated because she now has to soak her dishes in lime-away to get them as clean as they used to get in the dishwasher. She believes this is because the amount of phosphates in diswashing soap has recently been lowered. She is on well water and it is pretty hard water. Is there anything she can do to get her dishes clean in the dishwasher again? [more inside]

How do you clean hard water rust stains from plastic and rubber? The fridge front door where you get water and ice has nasty brown stains on the rubber levers and plastic drip tray.

H2OFilter: Laptop disaster! The cat spilled a vase-full of water on the keyboard of my Dell Latitude C800 laptop. I managed to avoid getting the thing completely drenched, but the machined did shut down immediately, unprompted. [more inside]
