Non-chain restaurants for happy hour in Broomfield, CO??

Non-chain restaurants for happy hour in Broomfield, CO?? I just moved to Broomfield from Boulder (I know, sad...) and the dearth of non-chain places to eat out is shocking. I'm hoping there are some tiny, off-the-beaten-path type places that I have not noticed yet. I kind of doubt it, but thought this might be my best shot at finding out. I'm looking for anything from McCaslin to I-25, generally along 36, but also North of there. Thanks!

How to word the invitation for a Happy Hour that's (partially) in honor of those being laid off?

Some of my coworkers are being laid off. I'd like to send out an invitation to a Happy Hour so we have a chance to get together informally before "the end". How do I word the invitation? I don't necessarily want it to be a bitch-fest because people who are being retained are also going to be invited. I intended this event as a way for us to get together after work for fun and socializing, taking advantage of the fact that we're all on the same side of town. Once people move on, it's a lot harder to organize something like this.

Who said it first?

Where did the saying "It's 5 'o Clock Somewhere" originate? Yeah, I know the Parrothead reference. But wasn’t this phrase encouraging daylight debauchery long before Jimmy Buffet? (I guess I’d rather picture an F. Scott Fitzgeraldian flapper coyly whispering it between puffs from her mother-of-pearl cigarette holder than to imagine the drunken choruses powered by a 4-top full of Realtors in Hawaiian print shirts.) Cheers (or a pint!) to anyone who can help.

Where to host a happy hour for 100 in Seattle?

Need help planning a happy hour event in Seattle this September. I work for a college in Portland, Oregon. We're going to be hosting a happy hour/networking event for alumni in Seattle this September. I know Seattle fairly well, but am not up to speed on the bar/restaurant scene.

What I'm looking for, ideally, is:

A location that is easily accessible for an after-work happy hour, can accommodate 60-120 people with drinks and maybe hors d'oeuvres, and would be a cool place to go for both long-term and newly-arrived Seattle residents.

Tall order, I know. Bars, restaurants, clubs, galleries, etc. are all okay.

wither the cheap eats?

Please recommend good Happy Hour locations in and around Palo Alto, CA. I recently moved. Happy Hour dining was a staple of my Seattle diet. I'm looking for good deals on food and a cheap glass of drinkable red wine. But I'll take any and all suggestions. Thanks.

Keep my happy hour from becoming sad.

What's the best way to organize a happy hour at a bar? This is probably the silliest question I've asked, but I've never done something like this. I just want to set up an informal have-a-beer at a brewpub with my classmates. I'd consider it a success if we got somewhere more than 8 people, but since I'm planning it for the same day/time as class had been it wouldn't surprise me if the number swelled up to twenty.

What's the right protocol? Do I have to contact the bar in advance with a head count? Is it better to just hang out a the bar or try to get tables? Do I need to bring name tags? Are we going to piss off the usual crowd if we overcrowd the bar?

San Jose Bars

I need bar recommendations for San Jose. I’ll be in San Jose this August for a big conference. My boss (i.e. department chair) has given me the task of finding a bar in downtown San Jose where we can have a mixer.
Requirements:
a)	Bar has to be within walking distance of the convention center. Most people won’t have rental cars (and I’d rather not have them drive back after anyway).
b)	On a scale of divey------------------chi chi, the bar has to be closer to the divey end. We’re a bunch of grad students, post-docs and professors (liberal tree-hugging types). So a place with reasonably priced beer is what I’m thinking.
c)	A place where we can dance (#1 requirement for the boss). So music (live or not) would be great.
d)	We don’t necessarily want to party with locals (there will be 100+ of us) but some place where locals go would be nice too.

This will be on a weekday.

I found this site but it looks like it was written by the business bureau (hence the glowing recs)

Any of you locals got ideas?
