Help me find books that are as happy, joyful and well-written as Silas Marner!
Last time I visited my grandmother I gave her my copy of Silas Marner. She loved the book so much she read it three times in a row within two days… She told me it brought her "an unexpected deep and quiet sense of joy"… Because she's pretty sad and depressed right now I'd love to find other books that might lighten her long and lonely days! Can you help me? :)

I'm looking for mostly pre-2000s stuff. Not dancy necessarily, but very happy, poppy, stuff that you could dance in your seat to. So far I have;
Hall & Oates - You Make My Dreams Come True
Stevie Wonder - Signed Sealed Delivered
George Michael - Freedom
Cheesy is fine, if not encouraged.
Thanks MeFi!

I've been reading a lot of bleak books lately, often with antiheroes. Now I would like the opposite of that. I don't mind if some bad things happen, of course, or if there's conflict - usually that's kind of necessary for a good story. But I would like it if at least one of the main characters were someone I would want to be friends with. And if some of the stuff that they do or that happens in their lives makes me smile.

I love songs of any musical genre that feature multiple musicians sitting in a room together, playing upbeat music, and clearly having a very good, very playful time doing so. The musicians’ pleasure is infectious, and I can listen to these songs on "repeat" endlessly. Can you recommend some songs like this? (Examples within.)

hi, everyone! i'm making a mix of piano-based songs for my friend and i'd like for some of the songs on there to be more brightened but still be meaningful, of course. the type of songs i'm looking for are like "mouthwash" and "merry happy" by kate nash or "wings" by utada hikaru. something where it's still primarily piano. thank you for any and all suggestions!

I'm looking for songs that start out cheerful or sweet and turn sad. My best example of this is the Marriage Song/Theme from the movie
Up. It doesn't suit my purposes, however. Can you help me find some others?

Recommend me aggressively happy music. The kind of music that punches happiness into you no matter how much you don't want it to be there. The sort that explodes into spiky neon flowers.

Want to start school and get our life on track, but how? I've made some mistakes in college by not showing up an entire semester so my GPA is 1.05, even the lower university's here in TN like austin peay won't take me because my grades suck. I live a hour away from the two community colleges in my area. I also have to figure out how I'm going to give my family a place to live, I lost my job in missouri and moved down to TN with my mom.

I am in search of a literary character... Here are the stats: Female, happy, feisty, very feminine, straight forward, unmarried in her 30's- and no shame in that position, no bitterness, genuinely happy for everyone else around her, socially not the norm but does not see that she is out of the norm, naively happy... does not have to be a classical character but must be a strong character. Thanks!

Manic Pixie Dream Music: Once again I must step outside my beloved genres to find music for an event that's all about Sparkles! Glitter! and Pixies! Need suggestions for happy, twinkly, fairy music. The more tooth-achingly pop-y the better. "The Magic Position" by Patric Wolf would be a good example.
