I found my old Palm T|X today. It doesn't (AFAIK) do anything my mobile phone doesn't do these days, and it's considerably bulkier, but it seems like a waste to just recycle it. Is there anything interesting I can do with an aging PDA?

Recently I have been desiring a hand held gaming system (similar to a psp or a ds) that would allow me to just play my N64 Roms that I play on the computer. I do not need any extra features, just the ability to play legally owned ROMs with a hand held. Anybody have a solution?

I'm going to be doing some live/handheld camera work for a church conference next week, i've got the camera experience and know how to focus, iris up, bump the gain, white balance on stationary cameras, but haven't done a lot of handheld work. This will be used during concert-like worship sets, and high-energy crowd particpation stuff. Do any mefites have any suggestions for things I should try, pay special attention to, figure out prior to showtime?

My husband wants a handheld GPS for Christmas. HELP! I don't know where to get one, how much to spend, will it need tech support? My husband has a Lowrance GPS on his boat so he knows how to use it although he isn't good in other areas like using the computer or even his cell phone. I am thinking of getting him Lowrance, but can I go to Circuit City or Best Buy or should I go to a sporting goods store?

Portable DVD player, or video player, or custom-built Frankendevice, with VERY high-quality audio output?? Video quality doesn't matter (could even be b/w), but screen should be 8"+ and unit should be as lightweight as possible. For live concerts where I need to see video, just for my own reference, that's exactly in sync with my pre-recorded audio (so I would make DVDs or video files with my audio + the visuals I need). Laptop = expensive/heavy/overkill.

I understand that certain handhelds (the DS and PSP come to mind) can actually be rendered useless and unsalvageable by malicious software. If I bought a smartphone what feature would I be looking for that would ensure me that like a PC, I could always do a fresh install if things got too virusey?

I've never owned or used a palm-top or hand-held computer before, but I've always thought they were cool. Lately I've realized that what I really want is a hand-held commodore 64; in other words, a cute device with a keyboard, that I can whip out and program quickly and easily. The keyboard, and the ability to edit and run programs, are my two real criterion.
Does anyone know of a device (other than a PC laptop) that fills the bill?
