I've played each game in the Halo series, and am a competent online player, but far from skilled (in Halo 3, I'd say I'm a skill rank of ~15). I'd like, though, to be better. Obviously, getting better is primarily a function of playing more. But what's beyond that - more to the point, plenty is out there, what's quality? I'm wondering about tips, methods/innovations, instructional videos or documents that are worth the look, etc. [more inside]

I would like to make some Halo (the video game) things for my husband's birthday (next week). I am thinking about a Halo-cake (any good ideas? I don't want to make a photo cake) but don't have any other ideas. I don't live in the US and cannot buy many special products here. I also don't want to spend a lot of money. For those mefites who have had LASIK surgery, especially those who had the surgery done with the Allegretto Wave laser, what was your NIGHT VISION like after the surgery? I had the surgery a week ago, and I'm seeing very large starbursts of light when driving at night. It doesn't give me searing headaches, but I find it very annoying and distracting. Is this something permanent that I should brace myself for now? Can night vision problems be corrected with an enhancement surgery? [more inside]

I am going to be participating in a Halo 2 Kill-A-Thon tomorrow night. I do not own an Xbox myself, so i don't get much practice time. I am getting better at Halo, but i still seem to be an easy target for experienced players. Are there some basic techniques that i should know or other tips that will help me be a little more of a threat and less of an easy mark?
