DeathFilter: How can I make my arms, chest, and neck look paler without getting white stuff everywhere? My Halloween costume this year is Death from Sandman. I'm mostly set except that my skin is still moderately tan from summer. Is there anything I can apply that will make my skin lighter without being horribly messy? I'll be wearing a black tank top and black jeans, possibly putting on and taking off a jacket and gloves, and I have to drive to a party, so there will be a lot of opportunities for smearing/getting on everything. I'm imagining some type of powder, possibly, or a non-oily makeup that could be set or sealed--is there anything that fits that description?

I'm mainly worried about making sure my face blends with the rest of my body. Ideally the resulting skin tone would be similar to this girl's. This face/chest contrast is what I'm trying to avoid. Googling and the AskMe archives have yielded nothing. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Bonus points: best quality brand of colored hair spray?

Please post some cool ideas for Halloween costumes for a couple! Big brownie points if it's superhero-themed. (But this is just brownie points, please post anything that would be good for a couple!) PS if it matters, she's thin, I'm relatively athletic, she's 5'7" and I'm 5'9". But really, post without that as a concern -- even if we don't wear it, I am sure some MeFiers will get inspired :-)

Where can I buy a little boy's size M or L Abraham Lincoln costume in Austin, TX for less than $35? Looking for a little boy's M or L Lincoln costume last-minute, so I can't buy online. Looking for a place where I could find this in Austin. No luck at Goodwill or Target. Don't want to spend more than $35.

So somewhere on the green, someone had the great idea of a sky costume. I hope this person doesn't mind that I'm running with this, and whoever you are, if you see this, thank you!

Anyway, I'm trying to think of fun, unexpected coordinating costume ideas for my friend. So far we've come up with one idea, "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds," but I think we could do better.

Anyone have any good ideas for a Halloween costume involving a mustache? I'm growing a mustache all month so I figured I might as well incorporate it into my costume. So far I've come up with Rafael Palmeiro on Levitra or a Reno 911/Supertroopers character. I'm about 6'2 210 with dark blond hair if that matters for your ideas. Any and all suggestions are welcome. Help me look like a drag queen from outer space! I'm going as Lady Gaga for Halloween and need hair, makeup, and costume ideas. [first question filter: I've kept up with Ask Me for months and have a laundry list of questions I'd like to ask. I thought I'd start with a fun one.]

I'd love any creative ideas or resources. Some examples here, here, and here. I need head-to-toe advice (wigs, makeup tips, diy clothing, websites that sell weird dresses and accessories, whatever you feel like might help).

A couple ideas I've thought of so far have been feather eyelashes, the lightning-bolt eyeshadow (a la David Bowie), and this cool mask I found. I'm at a loss for any clothing ideas and have only found one wig that looks acceptable.

I need the hivemind's help to look out-of-this-world fabulous!

Help me perfect my Sarah Palin costume. I am planning on dressing as Sarah Palin for Halloween. I've already perfected my impression and showcased it at a department party/VP debate watching party earlier this month. Right now I am trying to consider the various subtleties that would make the costume keen. I have the perfect black dress suit (may look for a red one as well), plans for the glasses, heels, flag pin(s), hairdo, makeup, etc.

I have also planned on carrying some pictures of my kids "Trak" and "Trig" which will, of course, be pictures of various running tracks and trigonometric figures, and will likely sport something to do with rape kits. I am looking for other things along similar lines to add to my costume, things that are centrally and readily identifiable as Palinesque, and that would be relatively easy to create or replicate and carry around all night.

Help my kid win Best Costume this year!

My 4-year old son wants to be this bridge for Halloween. Yes, a bridge. That bridge. I am fairly crafty/handy, but I'm a little stumped as to how, specifically, to pull this off. Please help me, creative MeFites. Key points - the costume needs to be easy-on, easy-off (this is a 4-year old we're talking about here). Also needs to be able to survive a morning at nursery school and then trick-or-treating in the neighborhood later on. Also needs to be inexpensive to construct.

My main question is in how to create the structure of the bridge. My initial thought was to make just one "segment" of the bridge for him to wear, with "Trenton Makes" on one side and "The World Takes" on the other. I also thought I could start with a cardboard box, "sculpt" it with an exacto knife, cover with duct tape (tedious, but would possibly provide rigidity?) and create a roadway w/ matchbox cars glued to it. I figure his arms will fit through the sides and his head/body will fit through the middle of it.

But is there a better way? Please give me your best ideas.

For this year's Religious Studies Dept. Halloween party (theme: dress as a religious character), my partner and I want to go as Zombie Jesus and Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter. Is this offensive? If not, can you help me plan the costumes? I have never seen JCVH (and won't be able to before the party), what would an appropriate costume be? We have had this party for four years now, and so far the only untouchable characters have been Jesus and Mohammad. People have dressed as various Hindu gods, Greek/Roman gods, cult leaders, Elvis, a pirate (Pastafarian), Kwan Yin, and all sorts of others, both serious and non-serious. Most of the party attendees are either non-religious, or belong to liberal sects. I think that everyone has a good sense of humour. I don't want to offend anyone, but I am a bit tired of every other religion being fair game to parody except for Islam and Christianity, and I think these costumes would be fun and easy.

'Tis the season: Help me perfect my Ahmadinejad costume. I've been growing my beard for a couple of weeks now. I'm skipping my regular haircut so that it should be long enough to style like his. I've got a suit to wear with an open shirt. What will really push this costume over the top and make it instantly recognizable? I'm thinking maybe a "Hello, My Name Is Mahmoud" name tag, but that seems a little cheap. Is there something I could carry? Any good (non-offensive) Arabic phrases I can holler over and over again?

Make my weeks of looking stupidly bearded beforehand worth it- help me push this costume over the top!

HalloweenCostumeFilter: I know that people have come here looking for ideas before, but I have specific criteria for a costume. Help me enjoy a Halloween party, for once I am 25 year old male in decent shape.

This is what I demand out of a costume:
1. I want it to be kind of attractive, suave, cool, and comfortable.
2. It must be warm so that I can go outside comfortably without having to worry about a jacket. I can wear a thermal undershirt to help with this.
3. I'd like it to be relatively simple, perhaps consisting of real clothes that don't require a whole heck of a lot of alterations.
4. CHEAP
5. A little bit funny wouldn't hurt

Any ideas?
