Help me find some spooky graphic novels or comics to get me in the Halloween spirit [more inside]
I'm looking for ensemble horror/mystery comedies set in sprawling mansions. Examples within. [more inside]
My girlfriend and I both really like Halloween and we both really like the Netflix show Stranger Things. So much so that we're throwing a Stranger Things themed Halloween party. Help us do that! (all of the spoilers inside, but if you haven't seen Stranger Things, just go ahead and fix that and come back) [more inside]
It's October, so I'd like to give my Grandmother some spooky mysteries to read. I've given her quite a few gothics, and those aren't difficult to find, but she now prefers the young adult books I've been getting for her. I know her taste, because we talk a lot about which books she's enjoyed the most, and I know she won't like anything too dark, too serious, or too gross. Lighthearted (but not too silly) mysteries with Halloween themes are what I'm looking for. [more inside]
This Halloween, I'm going to bake myself a Halloween cake, light some candles, turn the lights off, and listen to recordings of classic horror stories read by masters of the form. Need to beef up the story list! [more inside]
Looking for any new creepy sounding tracks for my annual Halloween mix. New, or new to you; original songs; cover songs; or even soundtrack selections work. (If a recommendation has appeared on a previous AskMeta thread for Halloween mix tunes, less candy for you!)
This year my partner and I are planning a scary movie all nighter on Halloween, after the trick or treaters are gone. I would like to get about 4-5 scary movies that are not gory ( no Chainsaw Massacre), no zombies and no first-person documentary style horror movies. Anything else is a go, but would prefer movies made in the last decade rather than vintage stuff. Help me scare the pants off my man! Mwahahah!
I'm putting together a Halloween marathon party this weekend, with a few horror movies (about evenly split between good and cheesy selections), and lots of video interludes in between that speak to a sense of pre-2000 horror/VHS/halloween nostalgia. I need your help on the interludes. I'm finding it hard to pick the exact vibe I'm looking for, but for examples: [more inside]
Trick or Treat! Hey, creative minded Mefites... please help me brainstorm names for a potential horror / Halloween convention. Location would be LA, which could be included in the name somehow, but not necessary. Those are brilliant. [more inside]
Calling all librarians! I need a book of short, scary stories suitable for reading aloud to kids. [more inside]
What are some horror movies that are scary, but not gross? [more inside]
What movies will I be seeing at the horror movie marathon tonight, based on the hints from the theater? [more inside]
Most Halloweens I have a small Rocky Horror Picture Show party at my place. But this year I wanted to screen a different musical. Still, I want people to dress up, and I want the night to carry the same raucous, raunchy tone. How can I "slutify" The Sound of Music?
Looking for good film depictions of the classic Victorian haunted house. [more inside]
What fantastic-ly schlocky horror movie should I show at my annual viewing party? [more inside]
I'm looking to put together a CD of Horror Movies' Cheesiest, Greatest Hits (i.e. the opening theme to Killer Klowns from Outer Space, the ballad closing My Bloody Valentine, etc.), but I've hit a wall. Help! [more inside]
It's that time of the year: I'm looking for good horror movies for kids. [more inside]
HalloweenFilter: What are some good movies for a halloween party? Scary, Silly, you name it.
