I think I might have the flu. My first half marathon is 4 weeks from tomorrow. Can I still run it? How can I get on the mend fast, and back to training ASAP? [more inside]
I signed up for my first half marathon in mid January! I'm nervous and excited, but also injury prone. Had a really bad ankle sprain and broken toe within the past year (separate occasions), and don't want to injure myself again. How can I enjoy cross-training, training for the half, all while avoiding injuring myself over the next few months? [more inside]

Running the DC half in March. Almost all of my training til then will take place indoors on a treadmill. In preparing my body for the same changes in elevation, I would like to practice my long runs using the elevation map from the race course. How does this translate into my manual adjustment of the treadmill incline/decline settings? [more inside]

I'm considering registering for a half-marathon on Sept 8 and wondering how realistic/hard a goal it is. I'm young and in good health but haven't run more than 3 miles before. I'm also looking for recommendations for a training plan. [more inside]
YANMD, but you may be a runner. I am trying to figure out what to do about a muscle strain/tear in my upper calf, other than the usual icing/NSAID/rest regimen. Race day is 9 days away, and I have taken the past week off any exercise, but am still experiencing pain when walking. Should I run at all the next week, or continue resting and wing it on race day? Are there any specific stretches/massages that might help me recover faster? [more inside]
I've been running since 2007, and since then I've run three half marathons and several 10 milers/10k/5ks and what have you. Over the years my speed and abilities have increased, but boredom has set in and my motivation is lacking, especially when it comes to long distance running. I think I want to transition to doing short distances and speedwork, but I'm not sure what I should focus on. [more inside]
I have a Google Calendar with one of Hal Higdon's half marathon training schedules, and I'm a day off. I've been a day off for weeks. I'd like to adjust the calendar rather than my life. How can I adjust the events by one day all at once? I am happy to import or export, etc as necessary. It's such a small thing but it's driving me crazy.
Help me run the last three miles of a half marathon next month. I've run twice before and both times I stalled out at around 10 miles. I've got four more weeks to go, help me make the best of them. [more inside]

I want to walk a half marathon. My city's marathon is next fall, so I have plenty of time to get ready. I found various training plans online that range from 12-16 weeks, but that's really not what my question is about. I'm wondering, since I have almost a year till then, what should I do be doing now? Does it matter? I'm in good health but haven't exercised consistently lately. Also, general walking-a-half advice is very welcome!
Can you help me understand how the training plan I am following for an upcoming half marathon will translate to my performance on race day? [more inside]
