I'm trying to grow out the straightest hair in the world, from pixie-short. I'm a woman. It's going fast, but I need some in-between styles or tricks to avoid looking like I'm 15 in the meantime. Bonus question about really loose perms. [more inside]

Seattle or Eastside: Recommendations for a hairdresser specializing in trendy cuts for men, despite the formidable obstacle of seriously thinning hair. This may be my last chance to look young, hot, and fashionable, before my hair declares to the world the world "Going on middle aged and should know better by now!".
I have long hippy hair that has never been fashionable. It's disappearing and I'd like a trendy cut at least once before it's too late. It may already be too late. I fear a stylist is going to misjudge how thin it is (the length disguises this) and botch it. So: Who is a miracle-worker hairstylist who can give guys makeovers to hotness?

I'm looking for a new place to get my haircut in Albuquerque, NM. Preferably on the west side of town. Any recommendations for specific people/places? Men's haircut, open to various price points. My hair is coarse and thick, short, and very straight, and it's always been difficult to get a cut that looks just right. Bonus points for someone who can work without me needing to tell them exactly how to do it. Thanks!

I need some hair help. I'm an 18 year old girl and I've never had a really good haircut; I've basically kept it long and kind-of layered for my entire life and I am bored to death. I need some ideas! [more inside]

So I always have boring haircuts. Standard businessman cut type. Cause I'm lazy and hate having to do anything with it in the morning. And this morning I realized it is now at the point where it needs to be cut as it's looking, well, like it needs to be cut. (How it looks right now: me1,
me2,
me3, though for some reason in the pics it looks a lot less in need of cleanup than it does in real life.)
So I'd like to do something a bit more interesting, a bit more daring. Not much, but a little. I'm kind of in a turning myself around mentally state, and it's passing over into things like this. And you know what style (roughly) I like? David Tennant-ish messy. Seen here and here.... [more inside]

Other than asking friends, what do I look for / how do I find an incredible men's hair stylist? And once found, how do I help them help me? It's time for a major restyling but it will be a tall order if it can be pulled off, so I fear most stylists are going to think they're up to it, then botch it. How do you sleuth which stylists are the ones to trust?

I've been trying really hard to find this commercial for a long time with no luck. It is from the late nineties I think and it is most likely a cereal commercial.
Description: A guy is eating cereal but his long hair keeps falling in the bowl, so he goes to the bathroom and bends over as if he's eating cereal. He cuts his hair so that it won't fall in bowl anymore. Then he goes back and eats cereal without hair in the way. The song playing in the background has lyrics that go: "The time has come for us to say 'sayonara.'"
Anyone remember this? Have links to commercial or song? Any info would help.

Can any Baltimoreans recommend a good salon? Most of my life my hair has been long to very long, cut straight across, bangs, kept in a braid or in a hair clip. I'd like to try a new hairstyle, with no preferences other than not-ugly. I would like a place where I walk in, the stylist looks at me, says "OK, this will look awesome, we are doing this!", does that thing, and I walk out happy.

If a man is described as having a close-cropped haircut, I picture a nearly-shaved head. But if it's a woman, I see something like a bob. It is just due to the shortness being relative to what is normal for that sex, or does it mean only one of these to you?
