I've been going to a salon to for groovy hair color, under the brand Organic Color Systems. They are interested in switching to a different groovy hair system, Innosence. Any feedback from other vain hippies?
When your hair is very, very grey, but you've been coloring it very dark brown for years, how do you transition to your natural (gray) color for good? [more inside]
I need some opinions and advice on hair color and style. I am for all intents and purposes "out" IRL now and I am trying to get all the parts of this nascent girlmode dialed in. Right now everyone I talk to is pretty divided between the "color your hair" and "NO OMFG SALT AND PEPPER IS BEAUTIFUL!" camps. What I feel is missing is a little nuance here. [more inside]
I've been using a certain brand and shade of home hair color for a while with good results. Lately I've decided the color is a little too warm for me. I have an unopened box of the now too-warm shade and don't want to waste it. Can make it useable by adding something to make it more neutral/cooler? Details within. [more inside]
I've been cutting my hair very short, and discovered that while I didn't mind my graying hair when it was a normal length, it is much grayer-looking when cut this close and does not look good in combination with my untanned white scalp. Can someone point out good hair color products for white guys with extremely short hair? [more inside]
Is this box highlighting kit just bleach, or is it color? I purchased the wrong shade for my hair (purchased Creamy Caramel, I have probably level 7 blonde right now and I'm wanting to go lighter - I've been using the lightest one available) but if it's just bleach I'm thinking it would still work, right? I'm not a hair color expert, but the kit has powder and developer and it smells strongly of bleach. http://www.lorealparisusa.com/en/Brands/Hair-Color/Touch-On-Highlights.aspx
I've been doing my highlights at home for a while and they turn out well, but the highlighter cap annoys me. It's hot and uncomfortable, and I'd also like to get my highlights closer to my scalp than I can with the cap on. Googling leads to contradictory advice. Does anyone here paint them on at home with a brush and end up with a nice result? [more inside]
For 9 or so months, I've been dying my usually light brown hair pink and blue after bleaching it. I bleach it every 3 months or so, and use manic panic every month or so. How can I keep my hair as strong and healthy as possible? [more inside]
I waited too long and now my roots are coming out. I really ought to fix this tonight. I was wondering if anyone has used the root touch up product and how your results were? Also, do I really need to do a test 48 hours ahead? I've used various hair colors with no ill effects (I have no tattoos). I had a salon job, brown with highlights and cannot go there this week.
So after bottle-dying my hair a few times, I'm at the point I think I want to take the plunge and get my hair colored by a professional. Yay! Except I'm not sure exactly what I want... [more inside]
At home hair-dye gone not-so-terribly, but my pretty dark red has too much purple. What's the best toner to get rid of that color and leave a nice red? [more inside]
I'm a man in my early 40s with a full head of hair. In its natural state, my hair is completely gray. So why is it turning orange all of a sudden? [more inside]

I am going to be interviewing for jobs soon. My hair is currently a rather vibrant shade of purple. How much of a problem is this going to be? [more inside]

I want to be a redhead. If you've been something else previously (especially a mousy brunette), is this a good idea? What works? What doesn't? What will people SAY???? [more inside]
I haven't colored my own hair in over 10 years, and the last time I did I used salon products sold to me by my hairdresser. Those products aren't available to me now, so I'm looking for a decent store-bought brand (or at least something available to non-professionals). [more inside]

How do I keep hot pink hair (dyed with Special Effects Cupcake Pink) from staining very light blonde hair? [more inside]
I've been getting my hair highlighted by a rather inexperienced stylist for the last few months. I love the general color (a soft cool ash blonde) but I'ved got a few problems with it. Now I'm going someplace new with a more experienced colorist. I know what I want -- how do I tell them what I want? [more inside]
What do I need to know about dyeing"hide-able" streaks of bright color on longish, dark brown, otherwise un-dyed hair. And can you recommend a colorist in DC? [more inside]
How does hair color appear on a night vision camera? Though I am embarrassed to admit that I watch Ghosthunters, I have noticed several times that the hair of the men who have brown hair on the regular camera appears to be a dark color on the night vision camera as well. But, the two female investigators named Kris, who appear to both be brunettes on the regular camera, look like they have blonde hair on the night vision camera. How can everyone be brown-haired on the regular camera, but some look blonde on the night vision camera?
I'm looking to start dying my hair at home. I'm considering semi/demi-permanent options and need more advice on what to choose. Previously having it done at a stylist. Color treated, previously bleached/highlighted, going-grey hair. [more inside]
So I'd like to make my hair temporarily white (or maybe gray, bright white would be odd, but whatever) for Halloween. I need tips, including whether or not it's a good idea. My hair is naturally dirty blond, and quite long. I don't mind if it's white for a few weeks, but I would like it to eventually wash out. What kind of color should I buy, or should I just go with a wig? Any tips are welcome.

Permanent hair color atop temporary hair color: please discuss. [more inside]
I'm blonde, but I've been coloring my hair red (permanent color) for the last year or so. I liked the red and all, but I'm ready to go back to my natural color. What can I do to fade the red a little faster without turning my hair into straw before I can get to a stylist (could be a couple of weeks)?
