It occurred to me that I could probably find a used cell phone cheap that would be more useful and fun than my aging mono palm, and sync with my mac. I am looking for recommendations for phones in the $50 range (on ebay) that take adequate pictures and can perhaps play fun little Java games. I don't plan to use the actual phone to make calls, I just want a cheap calendar/camera/game doohickey. [more inside]

I'm leaving on a long road trip and my muffler is loose and rattling, because a friend installed a trailer hitch and had to remove one of the brackets. I've wired it together, but the wire came loose, and I am trying to figure out a fast and easy way to hold this in place for the trip so the rattling doesn't drive me insane. [more inside]

Recently The Howie linked to a place that sells modded Xboxen. My question is--if I get one of these modded boxes, can I just use it as a turnkey solution for running a little dual-boot computer that can emulate a bunch of game platforms, play my mp3s with a decent interface, and play quicktime movies that I've ripped with a reasonable amount of clarity? (oh yeah, and save xbox games to the HD). Or, is it one of those deals where I *could* do most of that stuff, but I'd spend a heck of a lot of time messing with config files and otherwise slowly morphing into a Eunuchs Guru...

Or would I just be better off getting a cheap little mini-itx computer and putting an lcd monitor on it?
