A gate and a monster appear -- on the wall!

I'm retooling my Arkham Horror game-board as a vertical, wall-mounted surface, so that I'll actually have room in my apartment for people to play without spending part of their turn sitting out in the hall. Help me figure out the best way to do this effectively, affordably, and awesomely. Here are some of the options I've considered:

1. Fusing and mounting the actual board itself (and attendant expansion boards). Since the board's thickness would thwart magnetic game pieces, I could add tiny tabs of velcro to all of the locations, explorers, monsters, gate markers, clue tokens, elder signs, etc. etc. Though I'm afraid this will look like garbage and wreck the board for future flat gameplay.

2. Scanning the board and printing it out onto paper. PRO: Could slightly enlarge it for enhanced player visibility, could glue onto some sort of magnet-friendly metal backing. CON: Fitting board sections cleanly into a scanner without cutting it into pieces.

3. ??? Maybe something that rolls up? I dunno.

In any case, there would be a small table or surface under the board where all the cards and so forth would live, around which all the players would recline in relative luxury with their magnetic-slidered explorer sheets. I would love more ideas, or ways to improve upon the examples given, or ways to improve non-horizontally-oriented gameplay. How would you do it?

this controller, it vibrates?

What are some neat things I can do with a PlayStation 2? Are there any cool hacks for a PS2?

A relative just gave me a PlayStation 2 console, and it came with a few games, one controller, and the necessary cables for power and audio/video. I don't have a memory card for it, so playing the one cool game (Call of Duty) means I have to start from the beginning every time.

I played a few hours of PlayStation 3 at her house on an enormous plasma screen, so a PS2 on my 19" CRT is a little underwhelming.

So what cool things, aside from playing the 4 games that came with the thing, can I do?

Favorite PalmIII applications, tweaks, and hacks?

What are your favorite PalmIII-compatible applications, games and toys? Tips and tricks? Tweaks? Hacks? I recently recieved a Palm IIIc as a hand-me-down. Yeah, it's old and only 8 megs, but I've had a PalmIIIxe before, and it's pretty handy.

What are your favorite applications, games, and toys? Utilities? Tips and tricks? Tweaks? Hacks? Document readers? Hardware accessories?

I'm running PalmOS 3.5.0 - downgraded from 3.5.1 and the mandatory Palm Desktop 4.x installed 3.5.3 "upgrade". The 3.5.3 upgrade somehow makes the IIIc super slow on screen redraws/refreshes, and I'll more than willingly trade off some system stability for this speed increase.

Also, are there any operating systems/user interfaces available to play with that are not PalmOS? Ages ago, I remember hearing about people "running" Linux on a Palm device, but having no UI available - they'd have to telnet through the com port to actually access it.

Modded XBox

Recently The Howie linked to a place that sells modded Xboxen. My question is--if I get one of these modded boxes, can I just use it as a turnkey solution for running a little dual-boot computer that can emulate a bunch of game platforms, play my mp3s with a decent interface, and play quicktime movies that I've ripped with a reasonable amount of clarity? (oh yeah, and save xbox games to the HD). Or, is it one of those deals where I *could* do most of that stuff, but I'd spend a heck of a lot of time messing with config files and otherwise slowly morphing into a Eunuchs Guru...

Or would I just be better off getting a cheap little mini-itx computer and putting an lcd monitor on it?
