What is a very high quality, low wattage guitar amplifier that will not overpower a small room, but has enough punch to pick up some nuanced playing, and maybe one or two on-board effects?

I'm looking for recommendations for jazz albums with a lineup similar to the one on Sonny Rollins's classic album
The Bridge, which has tenor sax + guitar + bass + drums and that's it. (
YouTube example.) I love how Jim Hall's guitar takes on the usual role of the piano since it's the only instrument in the ensemble that can play whole chords.

I'm travelling by coach tomorrow morning and want to take my cheap electric guitar with me. Problem is, I meant to get a proper case for it at some point, but never got around to it. So what I have right now is the flimsy, badly fitting gig bag it came with. How can I make this a more sensible plan?

I'v been playing guitar for a number of years, and in the last couple i've started learning classical pieces to push myself. Although i'm no john williams yet learning pieces such as
canarios and
asturias has really improved my playing. So do any of you out there have a piece or pieces that you loved learning or that took your playing to a new level? I'm mostly looking for classical pieces but things along the lines of bert janch would also be appreciated. No shredding please.

I am trying to buy my boyfriend an amp pedal for Christmas but I am clueless about such things. I am going on two google searches he left open on the browser: "Best Fuzz Pedal for Valco Amp" and "Lovepedal Super 6." He has a Gretch amp and a Fender Princeton Reverb II (tube). He has discussed wanting an sound that sounds "turned up" when it's not. Also, a late sixties sound has been mentioned. He's not expecting me to buy one so he isn't being specific.
So, any ideas about pedals I could buy? I know I just need to save the receipt so he can return it for what he wants but I really want to try and nail it. Apologies in advance if the previous paragraph makes no sense, this is all Greek to me.

Searching for the name of an old guitar distortion/overdrive pedal.
Attributes:
* orange
* old
* distortion or overdrive
* had a feature that allowed holding for "sustain"
* used by my old hippy guitar teacher in 1992
* I was told it was difficult to find in 1992
I liked this pedal because I could hold my foot on the pedal and it would feedback. You would press once to turn it on, hold to get sustain, press to turn off. Not sure if it was custom or what.
I was too young at the time to note the brand.

I have been teaching myself guitar over the past few years and I still don't understand how to structure and play a guitar solo. Let's say I am playing a simple blues progression (I-IV-V) ...I have taught myself the blues scale... but when do I play what note? And do I need to move the scale up/down the neck in time with the progression. I want to be able to noodle an original solo... not just copy something already recorded.

Wiring/music equipment question: I have a fairly cheap 30WVox guitar amplifier with a phone/line out jack on the back. When I plug something into the jack, sounds stops coming from the amp's speaker and starts coming out of whatever I plugged in instead. However, I would like it if the sound would come out of both at the same time. How easy or difficult would it be to rewire the amp so that it works this way? I'm good with a soldering iron, but not too great with circuit analysis.
