I like country music, but I wasn't raised in it and I'd like to learn to play country guitar. Who should I learn from? [more inside]

Is that a tenor guitar in the Pistol Annies' 'Family Feud'?

In the Pistol Annies' track 'Family Feud', there's an instrument I can't identify. I think it might be a tenor guitar with a lot of reverb? [more inside]

Bad Girls & Slide Guitars

Let's say you're making a playlist called "Bad Girls & Slide Guitars". Let's say the first song is 'Hell on Heels' by the Pistol Annies. What would the next songs be?

banjo 101 for guitarists

I have recently been turned on to bluegrass, and am especially in awe of banjo players. I play guitar and would love to add banjoesque picking techniques to my arsenal, and assume other players have already done so. Are there any guitarists who employ banjo picking patterns? Online instruction, tabs, &c.?

Fix my guitar's neck

I have a Martin Backpacker Guitar that I love. I bought it 2nd hand and haven't taken all that good care of it, so the back of the neck has a fair number of small dents (like it would get from being banged against sharp edges) in the wood. This looks crappy and is distracting when moving up and down the fretboard, especially using a slide. What method could I use to fix theses nicks? I'm thinking some sort of wood-paste and fine sandpaper, but don't want it to come out looking like crap. Please don't use brand names, as I'm in Chile and while I can probably find the same products, they'll have different names.

Cleaning my crudded up Telecaster fretboard

My Telecaster's fretboard is all crudded up. I know there are a bunch of commercial products out there to clean it, but wonder if I can use just regular furniture polish or windex instead?

Identify this musical instrument

In the video for invisible Sun, from "Reggatta Mondatta", there was something that looked like a fretless, stringless, bodyless (a la Steinberg) bass. It had a very electronic sound, and was played by tapping, apparently. I don't think it was a stick, as it didn't seem to have strings, but I might be wrong. Does such a beast exist?

Can I fix my guitar amp myself?

I have a Marshall Valvestate 20 (8020) practice guitar amp. The built-in reverb has stopped working, producing just noise when you turn it up and a sort of wobbly sound if you bump the amp. Also the amp itself has a lot of hum, which goes away when I touch the strings. I'm too cheap/broke to get it fixed but know how to use a screwdriver and a sodering iron. Suggestions?

Pink Floyd's The Wall Instrumental History

On the movie version of Pink Floyd's The Wall, there's a short instrumental piece before "In The Flesh" (I think), with a guitar and flute, the guitar part starts something like this:

Does anybody know the history or name of the piece, and hopefully have an accurate tab of it? I've played it forever but never seem to have got it quite right.
