Help identifying a song!

Help me identify this (possibly well known) 90s grunge-y ish song. Okay, I just heard this while passing a pub and it stirred up some teenage memories because it was on heavy rotation on MTV back then. I figured I could look it up at home, but I'm having no luck.

I can't remember even the lyrics, I just remember the tune, it was catchy.

Here's what I can recall:

- 90s grunge, vocals/style very similar to Stone Temple Pilots.
- Lead vocalist is a guy.
- The chorus goes "Hey ey ey, now there won't be [something something], hey ey ey, now there won't be [something else]"

For example he _may_ have sang "hey ey ey now there won't be rain, hey ey ey now there won't be stars right now" but I don't really know. The chorus is pretty catchy though.

- It was played on MTV a lot so it's very likely something of a well known single at the least.

If I can remember anything else I'll post. Hope someone out knows what I'm talking about though ...

whats the hype about cutting up concert posters

In the film HYPE, why does that guy keep on cutting up concert flyers, and what does it mean? i am not sure who the guy is, but through the film they cut to little snippets of commnetary from him. he will make some social remark about seattle or grunge, then get a concert leaflet, quote how much it is worth, and cut it with a guillotine.
what is he trying to express by telling us how much they are worth and then cutting them up?
and why was that considered important enough to include it so many times in the film?
i obviously am missing something, because when i watch HYPE it just seems lame and out of place.
please explain

I like all their pretty songs and I like to sing along

Great '90s grunge songs EXCLUDING Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins, STP, and early Radiohead? I'm working on a blog post that will be "an appreciation of '90s grunge." I've already come up with most of a top-10-or-15 list just from the above bands, but I want to make sure I'm not overlooking some less obvious gems.

My goal is to find a couple more songs that really stand out from the crowd, so that even people who think of grunge as a played-out, over-hyped fad would listen and say: "Wow, that was really something."

I'm looking for songs that are mainstream enough to have a high-quality YouTube clip I can link to -- either an MTV video or professional concert footage.

I want to focus on that specific time period and that specific genre. Distorted guitars, power chords, loud vocals, etc. Not "pop-punk," not metal, not indie folk -- just pure grunge.

I'm just looking for songs, songs, songs. Not bands, and not albums. Songs.

I need music for my Mage game

Help me find appropriate music for my Mage: The Ascension game set in 1997. Alright, so i'm running a game of Mage: The Ascension (OWOD) set in 1997. The characters are all recent high-school grads who, once friends, have reunited after their first year out of school. I want to play this game to appropriate background music for the time period and, also, for the characters (meaning late teenagers).

I was there myself, and I remember a lot of music that fits this style; however, I came into the greater portion of my music-fu after the turn of the millennium and thus only remember a fraction of what was there. What I do remember was the stuff that got blasted over the radio. I'm looking for the music that was between the cracks, the kind you would have heard while you were getting high in your friends basement or while romancing that amazingly hot girl in her bedroom while she played riffs you'd never heard of before. Non-mainstream, but awesome, that kind of thing. Early grunge bands, under-the-radar goth rock, decent techno, sweet hold-over bands from the 80's, etc.

Also, anything that has to do with that quiet, impending apocalypse that all teenagers were told to expect in the 90s works. And, of course, anything Mage-appropriate would be helpful if you know what that is.

I am looking for some interesting places in Boston to take photographs of.
I want to do a series of photoshoots that involve bright/perky looking models against grungy backgrounds of buildings, walls and etc.

I haven't lived in Boston for too long so I am looking to explore some places that will be photo friendly. I also live atop the train station on blue line so I hope to get to these places via the MBTA.

Thanks in advance! Looking forward to hearing your suggestions.

Touch me, I'm Dick

Music AskMefi People: A playlist challenge. I'm looking for "lesser known", but excellent, grunge. In particular, I'm interested in songs you have heard once or twice, and if they're ever played on the radio, you find yourself saying: "Damn, that's a great song, why don't they play that one more?" My basic Zen in this playlist is songs that, if I heard them on a new CD, I'd listen to a couple of times over and over again, because I thought they were cool -- but the DJs and the corporate radio programmers never seemed to agree with me. The only problem with this idea is that most of these songs sit in my memory as "Hey, what was the name of that song, again?" So, I need your help.

So far, I have:

Soundgarden -- Birth Ritual

Alice in Chains -- Right Turn

Screaming Trees -- Shadow of the Season

Mother Love Bone -- Chloe Dancer/Crown of Thorns

Monster Magnet -- Negasonic Teenage Warhead

Soundgarden -- Like Suicide (Acoustic 1995 version)

(Bonus points if you can name the song being played in the following scene: Lloyd Dobbler packs his bag, hugs his nephew and sister, and is about to leave when he thinks better of it, turns up the stereo really loudly, and then leaves...)

I would like to make a mix of "post grunge" modern rock type music. Gin Blossoms, Toad the Wet Sprocket etc. It wasn't this cut and dried, but for simplicity's sake lets say that it happened like this: Nirvana breaks, along with Pearl Jam and Soundgarden, etc. Then, six months later, the poseurs swarmed in. I am looking to make a mix with the poseurs. These would be bands of dubious quality that weren't huge, but were mainstays of modern rock radio during those post grunge years. The sissier the better, but they can be a little bit rocking. Examples that I have in mind include The Gin Blossoms, Better than Ezra, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Collective Soul, that song that goes "She don't eat meat, but she sure likes the bone" that kind of thing. Songs that might have been on the soundtrack to a movie starring Ethan Hawk and Winona Rider. Songs that I would have heard driving around in my '86 Oldsmobile Cutlass Sierra when I was in high school and gone "This sucks" but would have known by heart anyway. Quality is less important than whether or not it was a song that everybody would have heard at that time, but quality is good too. I would prefer song and band name suggestions if at all possible, and I know about Last FM and Pandora. Thanks. Rock on everybody.

Grunge fashion comeback?

Grunge fashion comeback? I keep hearing more and more about grunge again, see more flannel being worn, and even see 'grunge' as a style for New York Spring Fashion Week...Besides the re-kindled appreciation for 90s indie-rock, are there particular designers putting out new takes on grunge fashion again? Are there cool mashups of flannel and denim? I'm a guy, I want to see if I can bring some flannel and grunge looks (besides the ripped jeans) back into my wardrobe in a sensible, forward-thinking way (meaning not ditching everything I own and dressing like I did back in '95). Suggestions?

Screaming PearlGarden in Chains Pilots

I'm a grunge freak with a wide-open cable modem and a willingness to use any stream player. So, where can I find a good stream? I've got my mp3 collection, but it's never as good as someone else's mix (30gb, and I feel as if I've heard it all a million times before). I once had a line on a good stream (content-wise), but it was at 28k, and I can no longer find it.

Anyone have any good suggestions? I'd prefer an internet-only stream with no commercials, but if there's a radio station out there that rebroadcasts, and is the kind of Seattle-sound for which I'm looking, that's just as good.

Holy Sh*t! Dinosaur Jr.?!

I just found out that Dinosaur Jr. a) just got back together with their original lineup and b) played on the Late Late Show the other night. Anyone know where I could find a video of said performance? Also, they must have really buried the hatchet to get back together. I remember reading an interview with Lou Barlow a few years back where he said his dream was to play on SNL and behead J Mascis with his guitar before killing himself live on TV.
